  1. Who would have figured that a BSN would be the most worthless thing we ever worked for. I'm in the same boat and there is nothing on the horizon. That light that we see at the end of the tunnel is nothing more than an oncoming train. What also sucks is that we can do nothing with our degree other than nursing!
  2. Hello everybody. I was in the April Cohort but I decided that it would be best to start in July. The logistics of an April start were to much to work out. So now I am going to start in July.
  3. I'll turn 40 when I start in a few months. I am also going to be a father for the first time ever. Lot's of change in a short amount of time. It's going to be fun!
  4. I think the essay question is different for each sitting of the TEAS test. The question I got was very specific. When I took the essay it seemed that everyone starting banging away at the keyboards and that made it difficult to concentrate. I read the question and just sat there for about 1/2 an hour thinking about what the question was really asking for to answer. Address every part of the question! Come up with a theme that answers the question! My theme was "One Patient at a Time!" I wrote just over 1 and 1/2 pages, double spaced. The essay is 30% of your admission score and you REALLY need to THINK about it. Do not give a generic answer the question is not generic. Also, after you write it, go over it and make the prose enjoyable but not complex. Transition from one idea to another smoothly. I am going on and on, sorry. Hoped this helped, good luck! Keep it as short as you can!
  5. You overall GPA and GPA in your Pre-Reqs look good enough to get in. Score very high on the TEAS test and write a killer essay.
  6. Also, are there any UCSD Alumni here or in the program? I was wondering what the workload and pace is compared to UCSD.
  7. Anyone switching to a later Cohort. I just switched to Cohort 23 in July. Having my first child due to arrive in April and starting school April is a bit much. (That reads funny! I am not having the baby, my wife is!) I want to start teaching myself today, but where do I start? Also, any other men in the program with me? I just read that 90% of RN's are women. Much higher percentage than I thought.
  8. No babies? Uh oh, I start in April with the 22nd Cohort! My first baby ever is due on April 23rd! I have about 4 gray hairs on my head right now, I bet I'll be totally silver by the time I graduate.
  9. Thank You for your post and priceless insider information. I am starting nursing school soon and your post has been very eye opening. Thanks again
  10. Try National University. I think they are affiliated with JFK University in Walnut Creek/Concord.
  11. I got an email about 5:30 this evening. The subject was "Regarding Your Application.." It said they would send me more information in the mail at a later date. I think they were overwhelmed by all the applications.
  12. Hello everyone! I just got accepted into the 22nd Cohort starting in April 2010 at National University! That was a long long wait!!! Congratulations to everyone else who got accepted! If you did not get accepted do not give up!
