i think i failed the nclex

Ive always heard that if it shuts off early you prob. passed mine shut off at the minimum number and i passed, but i was scared to death too. so dont worry you prob did just fine.:kiss

That isn't always true... I know one girl who had like 230 something and she passed, and I knew someone who cut off at 75 that failed.... So you can't always go by that...

We were told by a NCLEX Review lady that if you walk out of the test thinking that was the hardest test you have taken in your life, then you probably did ok.. Cause you got more of the harder questions.. BUt if you thought it was easy.. Then you probably didn't pass..

So you never know....

When did u took ur exam..I took mine this thursday....I still don't know...

well itook mine today but i knew i failed it bad you should be able to check the result at http://www.rn.ca.gov and check it under liscence verification ...good luck bebe

most likely you passed. A lot of people don't read the way the NCLEX scored and if you did you would understand that you always miss some questions that is how it is set up.

Ok it will start with an easy question and then get a little harder and a little harder until you do miss one then it drops back to a level that you were answereing correctly at and starts again when you have been answering one right then one worng then one right then one wrong this is you level of competencey. If this level is high enough to perform safe nursing care you passed! So in the final analysi everyone basically makes a 50% because it expects you to miss half to prove competencey.

When I took LVN NCLEX I went to 122 questions and passed and I knew people that took all 254 and passed.

July 1 2003 I took NCLEX RN and I took 116 questions and I passed.

Hang in there! You are more than this test. When you find out the results online, (if you're able in your state) deal with the reality then. Either your passed or not. But don't let your mind do loops of what you did right or wrong! Easier said than done I know from my own NCLEX experience and failing 2x.

The numbers don't mean you passed or failed. Many folks believe that if you get 75 you normally passed. In fact that is what my school told me when I was graduating. Not true. I myself have experienced both ends, failing at 188 the first, and 75 the second. I had one friend who failed the test with 75 and another who passed with 75 and on the opposite end, another who failed at 265 and another who passed at 265. We were all over the place! SO don't read into the numbers. There is no safe number.

With that said, I say it again! Hang in there. You are more than this test. And if it comes back that you didn't pass, mourn your loss(for as long as it takes you to get back on your horse) and do some soul searching as to why you failed. If it comes back you passed then you're on your way to learning what it takes to be an RN on the floor.

I think I failed the nclex pn. I took it yesterday and got alot of what I thought were difficult questions. I got so nervous I panicked and I could not think and I was missing alot of the easy questions. I know of 10 I missed that I have looked up. My test cut off at 87. It cut off on a Maternity question and I have heard that if you remember your last question and know you got it right you probably passed, Is that true?

Don't lose faith. I actually shut off at 88 also and I also live in CA, what a coincidence. I still don't know my results and I here it is taking up to 3 weeks to post on the computer due to all the May graduates sending in all their paperwork. I took mine 1 1/2 weeks ago and all I know is I got the last question right too. Good luck, keep us posted.

almost EVERYBODY I know thought they failed. The vast majority do pass and it has nothing to do the with number of questions when It shut off. I passed at 75. My co-worker passed at 265. I had friends pass at 82, 134, 185.

Just try to sit back, relax and not stress over.

Easy for me to say. It was the worst 4 days of my live. I am not kidding, I checked the computer at least every 1/2 starting the day after I took the test. Drove my family and friends insane.

Most NCLEX books will explain how the test is scored. It looks rather like a graph with a line in the middle that is the passing line. It will let you go on answering questions until you have spent enough time on the passing or failing side to predict your outcome. If you are staying right at the passing line, it will take longer and you'll get more questions. If it cuts off early that is a pretty good indication that you did either very well or very poor. It won't quit until you are consistently passing or failing. If you go to the limit with the questions you are probably moving back and forth in the middle.

Generally speaking most people think that cutting off soon is a good sign.

I cut off at the minimum and passed the 1st time. I did think the test was tough. While I waited on the results, I did have some doubts to arise even though I had wanted it to cut off early. I think most people do expect the worse because of the stress involved.

A classmate took hers at the same time as me. She nearly had a panick attack before the test and was absolutely hysterical afterwards. She was convinced she failed, but she did not.

i just took the test it was terrible ....well i missed the really easy questions coz i panicked .....i got a really easy dosage cal question and i got it wrong.....im really stressed and depress right now because i gave my best it stopped at 88....any suggestion on how to cope.......ive prayed and people had paryed for me and now im losing hope and faith...if there is anyone out there who can give me some advice hit me up ....bebe

Hey a deep breath and relax. I know its hard but you more then likely passed. I wrote three years ago and it shut down before I even made it to the first mandatory break I freaked! The person at the office came out and handed me kleenex and assured me I probably passed because it shut down early. Well she was correct, I passed and Iam sure you did too!
