Thank you, burn nurses, for what you do!

I just wanted to say thank you to all the burn nurses for the work that you do. I work in an ED that does not see many burn patients or pedi patients. Four days ago, while at work, we received a 3 year old pt with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 95% of his body from a house fire. It was the worst thing I have ever seen, and I will never forget that case. It gave me a new respect for those of you who work with burns daily. From one nurse to another...thank you from the bottom of my heart...I appreciate the work that you do!

Isn't it funny how different things affect different people. I loved burns, and found the emergency unit a very stressful place to work can do the major trauma but the walk in stuff and stroppy patients I found very difficult to deal with.

I think it takes a certain kind of person to do burn unit- to have pts that are so vulnerable, so injured, so traumatized, and in so much pain- so much risk for infection, organ failure- oh my goodness.

Hats off to the burn nurses.

Isn't that the truth! Ya'll are the best. My brother suffered 3rd degree burns when he was about 3yo (pulled a hot popcorn popper over on his head! the hot oil cooked him :bluecry1:) He spent months in the hospital and still has terrible scars from it, but in spite of all the horror, at 47 he has mostly good memories of the nursing care he received. Way to go burn nurses!:nurse:
