If you find out let me know. I have been filling out online applications for Barnes for a little while. How long did you wait before they hired you? Also, do you have to take any kind of course to be a PCT there and how long was it? I'm starting back in nursing school august 20 so I'm trying to get on the ball. I started applying at the end of june and still haven't heard anything.

I started applying at the end of june and still haven't heard anything.
I put apps online for Barnes several years ago when I knew nursing school was coming up and I would be leaving my full-time IT job (either as a tech or unit secretary positions). I never heard a peep. I also filled out a couple online for other area hospitals. Again, nothing. I thought perhaps I was WAY overqualified based on my having a bachelor's in another field and the salary I had been making.
Turns out that online apps get "lost" a lot or never looked at. I am now working at another facility in town and if I had it to do over, I would call nursing recruiters at the hospitals or head in to HR in person to fill out apps. If you're serious about a position, that's the tact I would take and not wait for some online app to end up on someone's desk with a neon sign on it saying "Hire me, hire me!". These places are hungry for help, but for some reason that online process just doesn't seem to be cutting it. I would also check St. Luke's, SSM, and St. John's unless you have reasons for only considering Barnes.

This is great advice. As I have posted on here several times, I applied for every open PCT and SNT position I saw on Barnes Jewish's website for about three weeks before someone finally called me. They always need help filling these positions, but they can be so slow when using the online application process. Calling in to HR or nurse recruitment and/or stopping by is never a bad idea.
I had an interview last wednesday and they called me back thursday and offered the job. I did call the recruitment office they day before they called me for an interview so I think that helped.
Now I'm just waiting for another call back to go and ahead and start my pre-employment paperwork days.

I have worked at Barnes for almost 3 years as a Tech, to my knowledge the new trainees are being hired at $9.85, but if you have CNA experience they offer more. THey are always hiring new techs. The weekend/night difference ranges from $1.10 to $1.85 more an hour and if you have completed your first semester of nursing school you receive an additional .98 an hour. When I applied, I had no experience, I only put that I was a nursing student (at the time, I hadn't even started) and they called me 2 weeks after I applied online. The recruiter is Cheryl D'Harlingue, so call HR and ask for her and tell her you are following up on your application.
They are also one of the lowest paying hospitals. I have turned in my notice and you are welcome to apply for my job.
