TEAS V

I passed!!!! :clpty:

Took the test this morning and made a 90.5! I'm so relieved. My school only requires the reading portion, but they cut off acceptance starting at 87.5% and you can only take the test one time. I was seriously nauseous this morning and slept very badly last night. I studied with the ATI V book for 2 weeks, took the practice tests and questions in the book over and over again.

I agree with the other posters that said the online test was easier for me than the book pre-tests. This is only for the READING section though, I'm unfamiliar with the other sections. For the reading section only, study: main ideas, vocabulary, cause-effect/sequence/problem-solution structures, and read each passage very critically.

As for the rest of the test, I feel the same as the reading, it's easier than the practice tests! I found the science much easier ... got 60% on the online practice test for that section and on the real test I got 87%. So yeah, really. Just use that lousy manual, it's all you need ...

I've been asking around to see if the test allows you to recheck your answers if you have extra time in a section. I noticed you said you didn't think you would use the alotted time. Do you remember if it is possible to go back and recheck/change answers within a subject?

Thanks!! Feels good to get that test over with! It really wasn't that bad, I was not stressed at all.

The test does allow you to recheck your answers. You have BACK and NEXT buttons and you are able to navigate back and forth between pages in the section. Whenever I was done with a section and I had extra time, I would go back and forth between pages just to double check my answers. A couple of times I did in fact change answers upon second review, and there were times I left blanks so I did not lose time and then I went back to them later. This only works within ONE section at a time though, so for instance once you submit your reading answers and start on the math section, you cannot go back to reading.

The ONE section I did not have a lot of time to review my answers was the math section. I think I had about 3 minutes left at the end of that one, so I did not get to recheck much. Ironically, math was my highest score out of the 4 sections.

If you're scoring mid 80s on your practice tests, you should be fine. I was scoring high 70s and low 80s on my practice tests. The real test seemed easier than the practice tests to be honest. Get a good night's sleep and you will be in good shape for the test!! :)

I have the V4 study book too, but I've mostly just heard the science parts are different, so I've been online trying to go over basic chemistry and such to be more prepared.

I wanted to ask you how you did so well on your exam. Congrats, that's amazing! I did well in the English and Science but I have to retake the math and reading. What's nice about the program I want to get into @ Adelphi Univeristy in NY is they have a certain passing score for each section, so I didn't pass the reading and math. My question though both times I took the ATI online practice exams and did well both times in the Reading and Math but when I got to the actual test, some of the questions were alot harder. Could you explain to me what strategies you took? Please let me know, I am retaking it the beginning of January and want to kick butt on those 2 sections, it's mostly the second half of the reading section that worries me. I mean I know there were 4 stories having to do with sleep walking, hibernation, migraines, and I think one more. How did you figure out the answer? did you read the questions first and then the story or did you read the story and then the questins, please help :) us future nurses or past nurses need to stick together. thanks!

I don't know about online study sources but I am getting a tutor! I really need to knock this exam out of the park to get accepted! I didn't get accepted this Spring because of a low TEAS score! Yuck!

i posted this somewhere else, but thought maybe i'd have better luck posting it here.

after surfing the web for three days, i've found that many ppl here have the same questions i do. but i still feel the need to ask more i suppose lol b/c i'm freaking out!

i'm scheduled to take the teas on december 27 so i can re-take again before the end of march (if i fail the 1st time) b/c that's my cut off to apply for the nursing program. i honestly don't know where to begin on studying.

i've found the website www.teasprepreview.com and wanted to know what everyone thinks about it?? i'll be taking the teas v.

i've also purchased the mcgraw hill book, and will be getting the teas v study guide on monday. but i think my main question is, what worked best for those of you who struggle with math & science? that will be my main downfall.

i've taken a couple self assesments on the algebra, and rememberd some of the stuff so i don't think the brush up with be to bad with the time i have to study, but i"m soooo scared about the science/chemestry. i haven't had any of those since high school more than 10 years ago!!

any suggestions would be awesome at this point b/c if i take this test twice by the end of march and fail both times, i'm not allowed to take it again for another 2 years!

I am new to this forums but I have been reading for the pass few days. I am going to take TEAS 5 in a few weeks. I have read that a lot of you said the science part for it is ALL OVER THE PLACE. This worries me because I didn't do so well in TEAS 4. My question for those who took TEAS 5 is are there any science topics specify that I should review and study? Thanks
