Oh boy, I just took my TEAS tonight and we were not allowed calculators, which I thought was no problem, except for the fact that we got NO EXTRA TIME for the math portion to do the manual calculations!
I believe we got 35 minutes to work 30 problems and many of them were multi-step problems. I barely finished in the allotted time and did not have a chance to check my answers. Good thing for me I am strong in math but good golly this can't be normal! I was whipping through the probs at the speed of light towards the end for fear of running out of time.
For those who have taken the TEAS- did you get to use a calculator, yes or no?

No, we didn't get to use a calculator either. I think that is normal.
My friend took the MCAT this year and they don't get to use calculators either!

Hey everyone...don't laugh! I had to find a 5th grade math website to help me learn the "long" way to do fractions, whole numbers, etc. I've dealt with percentages for so long I didn't even know where to start!
All of it came back to me, including the algebra, as soon as I scanned over the refresher.

Nope, we weren't allowed to use calculators. Also, consider yourself fortunate if you finished the section. I know several people (myself included) didn't finish the math.
Ok, thanks for the responses. I do feel much better now. I thought maybe they were making it more difficult than it was supposed to be, but it sounds like that's not the case. It's nice to know that others have had a similar experience.

Hey, would you happen to know that 5th grade math website refresher? I am freaking out cause we can't use calculators on the TEAS, and the math class I took taught us on calculators...which doesnt make sense:confused: Thank you in advance for your reply:nurse:

I couldn't use calculators either, but I bought a math software program at Best Buys for like $35 or something like that, and it was a great refresher! It had about 10-13 different math subjects from Pre-Algebra to Calculus. I think it saved me.

We didn't get to use calculators either, and that Math ate me alive...
I finished, but barely, and did poorly. 8 points less than my last TEAS.
Counting on that score to get me in, I was accepted before, and had to drop becaue my Mom had moved in and was very ill.
