what a day/nightmare...I left crying...anyone know the stats of the chances at 265

The pass rate for first-time US-educated test takers tends to be in the 80's. That means the chances are greatly in the student's favor. The number of questions does not tell you whether you passed or failed. You might check out this sticky if you get a chance:

The test doesn't just try to determine if you are meeting a passing standard, but that you are doing so with a 'statistical accuracy' of 95%. (NOT that you are scoring 95%, but that the program is 95% sure you are passed or failed.)

For some people, no amount of questions will dispense with that statistical burden. That means that you are somewhere in the close middle. You didn't clearly PASS or FAIL because if you had, the machine would have noted that earlier.

So, at 265 questions, the machine shuts off, ignores the 'statistical accuracy', and gives a grading of your actual standing that point. (the program is designed such that it can make an accurate determination due to the NUMBER of questions after the maximum are answered, instead of relying on a statistical measure.)

Because the machine is just as likely to be measuring whether you were clearly 'above the grade' as clearly 'below the grade', at that point, your chances of passing are just as likely as whether the machine shut off at any other question.

Don't get hung up by the number of questions. Really, we MEAN it when we say it has no bearing on pass/fail. Even if the number is 265 (or 205 for LVN/LPN.)

Take a deep breath and do something to occupy your time between now and when you are posting, I PASSED!

Another thing to note is that most people miss about half the questions on the test. It's designed that way. It's not how many you missed or got right, but the level of difficulty at which you are consistently getting questions right. As such, you missed about half the questions, same as everybody else. So, you are just beating yourself up going over questions in your mind that you were unsure of. This is ESPECIALLY true in that you are likely to remember the questions you had difficulty answering. DON'T DO IT. Put the test out of your mind.
