I was wondering how many on here are applying to TCC for Spring 2008.
I will be, I printed off the application packet this morning and I've got to go thru it when I get home to see what all I need to get together and when testing dates etc...

I will be starting at TCC this fall, but I just wanted to wish you good luck. You will do great!
Thank you! I'll take all the good luck wishes I can get.
I'm so ready to start, I was accepted to another program at a different school but for personal reason gave up my place so now I'm ready to try again.

I will be applying for the spring also. I'm currently finishing the "summer of fun" (I took Micro in Summer I and am currently taking Chemistry in Summer II). Only two more weeks left! Of course, I'll need to start preparing for the TEAS at that point. No rest for the weary...
That sounds like alot a work for summer semesters, I only have 3 classes left before I'm complete with pre-reqs so I took the summer off from school but Fall semester will start soon and I've got two classes going and working full time plus CNA classes. I'll be a busy little bee this semester...I'm going to go buy the study guide for the TEAS, so that I can be as prepared as possible for it.
Good Luck to you!
If all goes well we'll be classmates in January
Oh, it has been. But chemistry has been a lot easier than Micro was.
I have heard it through the grapevine that the study guide for the TEAS sold at the bookstore leaves something to be desired. I was thinking about getting this instead, some other nursing schools that use the TEAS recommend it.
That's good that you are taking a CNA course. I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to work while I'm in nursing school (assuming I get in, knock on wood). I'm going to volunteer at one of the large hospitals to hopefully get my foot in the door for a unit secretary position.
Best of luck to you also.

I am currently getting my pre- req's at weather college. I was wondering what pre-req's you need for TCC? At Weatherford we only need Anatomy I and II , Micro, College Algebra or Structures of Math, Eng I , PE , ARTS, Sociology, Human Growth Dev., Are they much different at TCC? Just curious its hard to get into nursing at weatherford.
Thanks Deanna

I have applied for the spring '08 semester, and hopefully I will get in this time... I applied for the fall '08 semester, without luck. I was told by the dept. that to get in without pre-reqs complete. So I know from experience that your chances go up if you have all your pre-reqs done.... Good luck to everyone applying.

I live in South Fort Worth, about 9 miles from the TCC South campus. And, I have been taking prerequisites for the past year at three different TCC campuses. Overall, my GPA is a 3.88 spread over 34 credit hours.
However, I won't be applying to TCC's program, because the competition is so stiff. My 3.88 GPA won't stand a chance against the many applicants with 4.0 GPAs who will be applying. My coworker had a 4.0 and applied to TCC, but was rejected and told to reapply next semester.
Commuter, you should go ahead and apply to TCC. I just started the nursing program at TCC this week, and I know several people that got in with less than a 4.0. I think if you have a 3.8 and have finished ALL of your prereqs, you have as good a shot as anybody. Also, you need to do pretty good on the TEAS test, but it's not so bad. A friend of mine got in with a 3.8 science GPA and a 3.6 overall GPA. Give it a shot and see how you do. Don't listen to all of the scary stories. Good luck!
I just went to an information session today and was told by the nursing dept. that a gpa of 3.2 is actually quite competitive. Think about it, 400 applicants per semester and 100 accepted... 100 people with a 4.0? No, I'm not buying that. You don't even have to blow the TEAS test out of the water as long as you do good on the science portion... Perhaps your friend didn't have all his/her pre-reqs. complete or something? Another thing they said was not to buy into the rumors because most of them are really silly....
