Taking an online class

I am in my first quarter of pre-reqs and considering taking English 101 online next quarter. I was just wanting to hear about other people's experiences with online classes. I know I want to take my math and science at the college, but english, sociology, etc online. How did your online courses work out for you?

Thanks,

Tonia

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm really considering doing a hybrid class thing with part time at school, and the rest online.

Can you ask anyone who's taken it at your school? Even go to ratemyprofessors.com and see if anyone mentions how they liked the online section. I took A&P I online and am taking II the same way right now. My professor audio recorded all of his lectures a couple semesters ago and set up .wmv files where the audio and the powerpoints are coordinated. This way we online students stilll listen to the lectures, but we can pause them and rewind if we miss something, we can stop and take a break, you can listen to 20 minutes of it whenever you have free time, etc. When you e-mail him you usually get a response within a couple of hours, so there's no excuse to not know what's going on. We are also welcome to attend the live lecture if we feel it will benefit us, and the people in the live section can stay at home and watch it online if they'd rather. These are the only online classes I've ever taken, so maybe I'm spoiled? That being said, my professor isn't actually a very good teacher, but he wouldn't be any better in person.

I am taking one now and it is pretty good, except when the system logged me out while I was taking an Exam. That sucked. Had to redo it from the beginning with a different test. But other than that it' s been a piece of cake.

I took English Comp (A-), Nutrition (A+) and Intro to Psych (A) all online and will be taking my Phys Ed requirement online next month :). I loved the convenience (I have four small children) and the courses were very managable! Good luck!

I also love online classes, im taking an online philosophy class at the moment; (my first time taking an online class). I have no compliants; but you must keep up with the asssignments given, All i can say is, Online classes are the best thing that ever happen to me!! You'll do fine.

Good luck!!

MIKelly and Nursing 21 - did you take these classes on line through the college your are currently enrolled in or did you take these classes on line somewhere else - out of state possibly.

Thanks

I took the classes at the college I'm enrolled at, MCC. I don't know how easy it is to enroll in online classes at just any college? I'd love to take Microbiology online ;) . Not that I think it's actually offered that way!

There are places that offer A & P I and II and Micro.

edukan is one

The question is will the school that you are doing pre-req's at accept on line lab work. Delta says yes.

Are you going to MCC for nursing or transfering? How long is the wait.

It is 1.5 to 2 years at Delta.

I'm hoping to get into Macomb's nursing program for 2007. There is no wait, you either get in or you don't! Acceptance is based on your GPA and Hesi score.
