I dont know where your other post is, so I thought I'd respond to this one. I took both of them online. Intermediate and College Algebra are not the same class. Intermediate is more remedial/high school stuff. Kinda like a refresher course. I am horrible in math! I always have been, even since elementary school. I took Elementary algebra in class and decided to take Intermediate algebra online (due to childcare) It wasn't that bad because I had just learned most of it the previous semester, I made an A in elem. algebra, B in intermediate. I took College Algebra online after that and it was one of my toughest courses so far, not because it was online, just because it's time consuming and I get frustrated really easily when it comes to math. But I got a tutor (online for quick answers & I went to our math lab and got one in person) We did a review together before every test and I made 2 points away from an A in the class. Thank God...no more math for me. If you are willing to work hard and go to tutoring if you need it you should be okay. Good Luck!

I am taking college algebra through ccconline right now. This has been the hardest class I have done so far. I haven't taken algebra in 20+ years and its a real struggle for me. I have A's in all my other classes and when I took the first regular exam in this class I got a 44%! I would have dropped that class right then if I had space to take it in the spring.

Here's how our class works. You are allowed to take each exam twice (same type of question, just different examples on each). The teacher expects you to take time to review the first one and then take the second. He does not want you taking the exam on the date it is due (you can't do it twice in one day). For my last unit titled "Modeling with Linear and Quadratic Functions" I got a 40% on my first exam, lets just say I was not happy and very discouraged, I could see my GPA plummeting. However, I went over every question and sent off an email to the teacher on the ones I just could not get. I didn't give him enough time (lesson learned for next time), but I still got an 84 on the 2nd try just with my own review.

And, now for the really great news... each unit has a potential for 5 extra credit points just for posting a 2nd (we already have to do 1 for normal points) application problem. So.. those extra credits take me up to an 89. I also have 27 EC points banked because I introduced myself (10 EC) and took the pretest when the class started (17/20 on that one). So thanks to extra credit, I may just pull off an A in this class!!!!

I have learned to do *every* odd question in the text (answers in the back), to give myself lots of time going through the questions and getting them done at the start. I joined yourteacher.com which has videos on what I am learning and using youtube, etc to get lots of help. Then I do the test, review it, ask for help on the stuff I don't know and get the answers back before attempt 2 is due. I am so happy now I stuck with it!! Algebra is still evil, but now I believe that I can actually make it through this class!!!

Eeeeehhhh uuuuhhh I think I'll just take it at the community college LOL

I took MAT070 (beginner's algebra college course) online and had no problems with it. I'm not good at math either, but I just read the textbook, did the activities and spent alot of time working on each section until I "got it". I then went on to take the next level MAT080 which is intermediate algebra in the classroom and did fine in that as well. Once you have a good foundation, you just basically work off of that. Good luck to you!

I think an in-person class is the way to go if you're not comfortable with you math skills.

I'm taking "College Algebra" online this semester, but the book is titled Intermediate Algebra, so I'm not sure how advanced it is compared to other algebra classes. At first it was tough, until I discovered the online tutor on the companion website which walks you thru the problems. I have a high B right now, but still hoping to make an A before the semester is over.
