Hi I have been reading alot of the threads lately and I see that you guys are good at giving advice. I just have one quick questions is it smart to take chemistry in a 5 week summer session ? I want to get my PRE reqs done but I'm not sure if that's smart because I know there is chemistry on the HESI so I want to have a strong foundation in Chem for the exam . Will I still be prepared for the chem part of the exam if I take the 5 week summer sessions VS a regular term in the fall?
Please help ! Thanks

Well- there are a lot of classes I would take in a compressed, 5-week format, but chemistry is NOT one of them. UNLESS you did very well in chemistry in high school, and remember a lot of it.
My brain hurts just thinking about this

It can be done, but that will require A LOT of committment and studying... Although I wouldnt recommend it, only you know your study habits and determinationIts up to you; all the best
Thanks guys ! I'm going to be taking it with AP 1 but I did take honors chem in high school and gotta A. but that was 3 years ago . Is there anything I can do to prepare myself?? I know it's gonna b hard but I as long as you guys say its doable then I should be able to as well with hard work and determination ! Thanks !!

I took A and P over summer, but it was 6 weeks IIRC. The only thing that would worry me about chemistry would be all of the labs! I think spending that much time over such a short span would drive me nuts! I suppose it can be done. It's funny, I hate chemistry but I think I would hate if more if I took it condensed in such a short amount of time rather than over the course of a semester.

It is doable, but it depends on the kinda grades you want to end up with.
A&P 1 will be intense over the summer coz you have to memorize and understand the most part of it. Chemistry on the other hand, has to do with calculations. Both classes require their respective labs, which means you will be taking 4 classes in 5 weeks.
It doesn't matter what you made 3 years ago. What matters now is: are you going to make A's in these classes if you take them in 5 weeks?
If your answer is YES, then go for it.
You can either make an A or a B, but its competitive so A is best.
In a nutshell, its doable depending on your ability.
You will want to get your materials and start studying immediately.
There are sites that can help. YouTube, khan academy, http://msjensen.cehd.umn.edu/webanatomy/ and many more.
Good Luck and I wish you the best.
Kindly feed us abreast of your journey in 6-7 weeks from now.
May the peace of The Lord be with y'all.

Hats off to you! I took chemistry in an 8 weeks accelerated class and it was a lot of work. I can't even remember chemistry from HS so I was worried. This teacher was amazing! Everyone in the class passed and I even ended up with a B. organize yourself and practice, practice, practice!

^ This.
I took a 6 week course. A&P 1... it wasn't easy. I basically lived on campus for the duration of the course. It's definitely doable. I just don't recommend you take them both in one summer session. Maybe taking chem during summer 1 and A&P summer II? I know doubling up on your sciences is discouraged...but it's not difficult if you put in the time and effort. That's how I was able to finish all of my prereqs in less than a year. I doubled up on micro and A&P II. & I just got accepted into a nursing program with a 4.0. So yeah, definitely doable. Good luck: )
Thanks you guys ! I also appreciate the link I'm heading to the bookstore as soon as it open and start my reading ! Appreciate all the advice and love . I will definitely be updating the thread on how it's going !!!! Thanks

AP 1 isn't flexible with my work schedule so I'm stuck with the two science at one time

Well, shoot. Lol okay, my only piece of advice to you would be to manage your time wisely. Don't procrastinate. I'm totally guilty of that. I always wait until the night before to study for exams. It's just added stress that you don't need. Especially during a summer course. You can do it. :)
Oh, if you took AP chem in hs, then that class should be a breeze for you. It's pretty much the same material.
