hello!
I have an immigrant petition, still waiting for the schedule of my interview by the u.s. embassy. I'm a registered nurse here in the philippines. I am in a dilemma whether to file for my nclex-rn application while I am still here,or to process it when I got there.will this speed up the process of my application since I am already there?
thank you in advance :)

I would suggest start the process now as it does seem to take 4 + months before you get the go ahead to sit the exam, depending on BON. Will not speed the process being in the US as you will still need things sending from your nursing school
But you are not applying for NCLEX RN but to be a RN in the US through licensure of which NCLEX is part of that process.
thanks for the advice..
once I file my nclex-rn here,is it all right to take in nevada the exam?

You can take it where ever you want but I would suggest waiting in that case to register with pearsonvue until you know you are ready to take as application with pearsonvue is 12 months and if for any reason you have a delay will have an impact. Where abouts are in in the process for immigrant visa? Are you really close to an interview?
ok.I thought that I can only take the exam here since I started processing it while im still here ..I already submitted the DS 230 form part 1 &2 to them..

You can take it any where you want and assuming you were able to get your immigrant status, then there is also absolutely no risk as well in taking the NCLEX in the US. Slightly different scenario for those who plans to take NCLEX in the US and just be on tourist visas. There will always be that risk of not being permitted to go in by the immigration officer's discretion at the point of entry.
As to taking NCLEX now, meaning in PH or later on would be your decision. There is no guarantee on exactly when you will be able to get the visa number everyone is waiting for. And being on the middle to latter stages is no guarantee as well, esp. if the recruitment agency you are in has a history of not being able to complete the process. Things can still get nullified. Sometimes, the US Embassy or the consulate flags down applicants if coming from a recruitment agency that had history of complaints from their clients or if they find something wrong with the contract the agency provided or it did not match the previous ones. There are also times when the nurse has hurdled everything , including getting their passports stamped as an immigrant and ready to migrate w/in 6 mos. but only finding out that there is no job waiting on the other side and her agency cannot fly her out and therefore the 6 mos. validity expired.
thank you very much..I will start filing my application. :)
by the way,I don't have an agency.it was my father who petitioned me..

The petition you were talking about was the family-based one?
All they while I thought you were petitioned based on passing the CGFNS exam.
If this is the case, there is absolutely no reason to delay things.
yes,it is family based...
another follow up question,do I also need to take english exams? I plan to finish everything that I need to do before I leave..
thank you :)

No, not anymore as far as immigration is concern if you will be getting your GC very soon via family-based petition. No need for Visa Screen Certificate as well.
I see..
thank you! :)

That is as far as immigration is concern, anyway. What State are you planning to apply for licensure to? A few States strictly require a English Prof. exam as part of the req't to give you eligibility to take NCLEX. Majority either do not have an English exam Prof. req't as part of their req't (such as CA BRN) or they waive it if the applicant explains that her program was taught using English Books (such as IL BON).
