Switching to a non-compact state?

Hey all! I'm switching from a compact state to a non-compact state. I'll be moving to Illinois in January and can't find on the Illinois board of nursing website what I need to do to transfer my license. Has anyone else switched to a non-compact state? Will I have to test again to get the license? Thanks in advance! All advice is appreciated!

I just looked at the Illinois site and it looks like there is licensure by endorsement under the licensing section. You don't need the examination but endorsement. In the instructions, you need to scroll way down to find out what you need to do.

You just apply for licensure by endorsement. All the info and forms you need should be on the BON website.

As stated previously, you are applying for an Illinois license by endorsement. You do not have to test again, thank goodness!! Prepare to pay a fee to Illinois for a new license and to your original state of licensure for them to verify to Illinois that you are indeed an RN and have no disciplinary actions against that license.

Being a military wife I have did this several times.. Without many problems

Every above post is correct.

But you also need to know that illinois can be slow to issue a license, so get started as soon as you can.
