I believe unless they are testing you specifically for bupenorphine you should not test positive.

It's worse if you don't tell them and it shows up on your test. It depends on which type of test is used...

Suboxone does not show up on your standard UDS: if you were to pop positive for opiates, it almost certainly means that you relapsed on opiates.
However, it could show up on a qualitative/specific test.
But as Whispera mentioned, you might have some problems if you don't disclose it and the school were to find out after the fact. The fact is that Suboxone is prescribed for only one of two reasons: opiate dependence and chronic pain...and providers prefer to prescribe Subutex for chronic pain. I won't tell you to disclose our not to disclose...that's up to you and there are very valid arguments for both decisions. But it is something to keep in mind.
Best of luck.

In Texas PAPN you cant work if taking suboxone. Be careful what you disclose. Talk with the prescriber of your medication. He/she is a source of support and knowlege of the medication. Peace and good luck!

They are required (by law) to tell you what test is being administered and what drugs they are testing for. If for some crazy reason they don't, ask them. You should get some paperwork and get a list of what the test is looking for when you sign the consent.
To tell, or not to tell; what does your gut tell you? You wouldn't be in anymore trouble than if you told them than if you didn't...the result will be the same IMO...Big Blondie is right; be careful.

The Bupe will not show up unless specific test for it. Most addiction Docs will test you for the presence to know if you are taking it and not diverting it. By the way great results as a antidepressant in recent studies. Lately, I have heard many employers, boards testing for it. anything over a 10-12 panel, I would check if its on there. If you tell, you will be accused of relapse no matter what. Even if you were having cravings and subutex/one was the safety net and under docs care you probably wont be able to work under it. It's funny, Buprenorphine, nubain, pentazacrine and others have been around for years for various reasons. Pregnant women pain, nubain helps some other opoids side effects, None were even scheduled nubain is still not. Once they find a way to re invent the old agonist antagonist its a class 3. c'mon. If it assists someone who would be going after street opiates or stealing from hospital and take away some anxiety until They let God fully step in then fine. I agree maybe there should be a medical leave until the dosage or effects are gotten used to but thats it. my.02

My answer.. Get off the Suboxone ASAP. Suboxone is a nightmare drug. It is also becoming one of the most over used drugs for those with addiction issues's. Not everyone needs to be put on Suboxone. If one is put in Suboxone, it should be short term. I seen a Poster in here a while back where the person had been on Suboxone for over a year.
Anyways, I do not have anything positive to say about Suboxone. It might help one and then it might almost kill them.
Wishing you the best of luck.

Hey there. I know this is a very old forum but I’m curious as to what happened with nursing school? I graduated and was denied taking boards u til I completely come off suboxone. I’ve been on it for roughly 7 years and continue taking it for pain. It does not alter my mind (if it did I would never have made it through school with 4 kids and a full time job and a full time student and also loosing my mom and grandmother during this time) I never told anyone I was on it at school bc it’s none of their business and they couldn’t tell. So my question is christiess213 did u get your license? And what state where u in? I’m in TN.
