So I took KAPLAN 3 weeks ago and I see here that a lot of people don't like it. I have had friends say that all they studied was KAPLAN and passed. Anyone take KAPLAN and pass? I'm a TERRIBLE test taker and I'm scared now after reading bad responses to KAPLAN:crying2:

When taking the Kaplan questions, first figure out what the question is asking....MOST IMPORTANT!!!!!! Then start eliminating from there.... I am not a very good test taker, but I passed with 75 questions on the first try. While testing, I felt confident and when I was done, I knew I passed. (Never felt that confident in nursing school!) I only used Kaplan qtrainers and trainers 1-7. I researched why I answered questions wrong and took notes. I did 50-75 questions a day. I completed 95% of the qbank questions. Good luck to you in your studies! You can do it!

I agree with everything the above poster mentioned. I am the world's worst test taker but passed first try with 75 questions! Be confident going in to the test. Be confident with every answer you choose. I left the testing center feeling that I had to of passed. Two days later my license was posted with my BON. Wishing you the best on your exam!

Well if it makes you feel better my sister passed her test with Kaplan on her 2nd take, and that is all that she used. However I failed with Kaplan on my 2nd take..so I can't say that it works for everyone. It really depends on the person, people learn different ways not everyone retains knowledge the same way thru the same methods where others have passed. Don't be discouraged though, many people have passed with Kaplan and some have failed just like me. Just make sure that your understanding the rationales to the questions that you're reveiwing as well as doing additional research and added references if you can't seem to understand the rationales. Don't relly on one book alone. Goodluck to You.

hi i too failed im preparing for nclex ...what i find is that either saunders or kaplan one need to be focussed and the amount of time on studies as effective as possible ,becos some need less time to read and some need extra time to practice .soall ytou need is positive attitude, focus and how to choose the right answer in the nclex.....kaplan one of the best review....i ve taken that ,it helps me find how to choose right answers.....and also should practice and practice....dont try to finish the many number of questions ,try to understand the q&a write down the rationales....review the content .be focused if u find destracted..becos am laso a worst in exam...so i try to spend double the amount of time to get used to practice questions.

I think Kaplan is a good nclex studying tool if you feel comfortable with the nursing content and just need to practice "test taking"...if you are not comfortable with knowing your nursing content I suggest learning from the saunders nclex review...the book is very detailed and provides a better picture as far as content goes...kaplan has a good method of test taking skills and strategies but that will not help you if you dont know what the hell you are testing on...content first then strategy....I took kaplan and did not passed the first time...I took saunders and pass but I do have to add with a little help from the kaplan strategy(plus saunders is a cheaper book than the kaplan review) :typing

I'm not sure about Kaplan myself but I know people who pass just studying that.
I think it would be safer if you study that with something else, like.. Suzanne's review.
My friend used that and she passed. It's highly recommended.
I didn't pass on my first attempt and bow i'm trying to get into Suzzane's review.
Good luck on your test! :wink2:

same here. Found Kaplan to be the best (also tried Saunders, NCLEX3500, Prentice Hall). While taking NCLEX I felt like Im doing my Kaplan QTrainer, it was that similar.
Good Luck!
