Study group for excelsior

Hello all,

I am a new excelsior student. I just took my NC1 (Health Safety) today and passed with an A. :lol2:

I am wondering if anyone in the New york area has recently began the program and is interested in forming a study group. I think we could really benefit by getting together every now and then to study and discuss the exams and excelsior process.

Even if you arent in New york, we can correspond through phone or email. I just want a buddy to go through this with! It seems scary doing this alone.

I too just began. Taking Micro test next week. You seem to be a class ahead of me.....

My next test is Transition to Nursing. I too live in NY....

Have you checked out the EPN boards on the EC website or the EC groups on yahoo? Those are alternate places where EC students hang out online.

Hi,

I don't live in NY but would love to network with those just starting too. I am going to start with Health Saftey also. Mean while I will be taking A&P at the community college...everything else will be EC. I have a lot of gen ed credit so I am just waiting for the eval. I've been in school, on and off for 8 yrs and still no RN.

I have been so scared to start EC...been pondering over this for the last 5 yrs.

I realized I am just wasting time so I am finally going to just do it.

I am not sure how to start studying any advice? I have no books yet I am still shopping around, I need some direction.

I too am new to EC. I am actually waiting on my review. I have been studying Micro. I travel for work so I am in Florida til next year. I tried to login to the EPN but for some reason it won't let me..I was thinking maybe because I am still under review!?!?! I would be happy to network with anyone. Does anyone know if I can schedule and take my micro test before they even do my review or do I have to wait until they say I am good to go..haha Micro should be the only class besides the nursing classes I should have to take.(At least I hope with 158 hours)LOL I will be moving home to PA by the time I am ready for workshops and CPNE..but I am willing to network with anyone from anywhere :)

Kanas- u can take the micro without the eval.Go ahead and register! I'm going to register for it too!

I need to take nc3-nc7 as well as micro and maybe a&p depending on my eval. I hope to complete all my exams by january. Good luck to you all and please feel free to message me!

Hey all! I'm in KY if anyone is near or around there! You can take ALL gen eds AND Health & Safety and Transitions BEFORE you have to pay the enrollment fee...however, i have already paid the enrollment fee...already took H&S, i'm scheduled to take A&P Aug 9th and Transitions Aug 27. I plan on being done with all my exams by Feb/March so like one per month with a little cushion there! Starting Aug 10th i'll be beginning transitions if anyone is on that same sort of schedule!

Once I receive my review, I will sit down and make a schedule too. How many questions should we expect to see on a EC exam?

Hey Tasha,

I am also from KY. I have passed all of the nursing exams and I am studying micro now and will hopefully take it in about 4 weeks. I failed it in 2008. I also have to take humanities and English but I am CPNE eligible so I am trying to get my paperwork together to apply. I noticed that one of your areas of care was home health. I am also a home health nurse. What part of Kentucky are you from?

Hey Tonya! I'm in Ft. Knox, Ky! I have experiance in home health but do not currently work home health at this time. I just quit my full time job at the local job corps where i was teaching C.N.A classes.

Hi There,

I am located in florida but will love to conference in... study group is a great idea, we can motivate each other. I took Health & Safety and currently studying for transition, but getting very discourage it's really boring and lots of information. Let me know which exam you are studying for, and let's set up a time.
