I am so mad and tired of this. A student I know, let's call her Jan, has been cheating the whole time. I caught Jan back when we were doing prerequisites, I thought Jan would never get in, but here they are! Another student recently told me she caught Jan cheating, and was about to turn her in, but couldn't get the facts straight and didn't want to look a fool infront of the instructors if she couldn't prove it. Jan even recently admitted to me that the only reason she passed another class is because she cheated. Now to top it off she is going around bragging about her straight As and how hard she has worked! In addition, she brown-noses and schmoozes, and has secured an intern positon via her buddies, while eveyone else let the progrm director place them. I'm wondering if I'm the sucker and the chump here. I've no doubt she's going to get into the post graduate clinical program, they take the top grading applicants! How can this possibly be fair?

its not fair. but leave it alone. just try to do you. meaning you keep studying. you keep working hard and you will be with "jan" too in the post graduate clinical. i would advise you not to say anything. its all a bunch of he said she said. and if you were to go to the instructors or whoever there isnt a way to prove it. let the instructors catch her if they even do. and if they dont thats her and the mistakes she will make later. i know it makes you mad, but you just gotta basically mind your own business and worry about you, because in the end thats all you have. like i said just keep studying and keep working hard. it will pay off.

I agree with PrettyLadie. Jan obviously has cheated her way through school, meaning she probably hasn't ACTUALLY learned any of the material. This will come back to bite her when she is working as an RN or goes to take her NCLEX.
She will suffer consequences, but I would let it happen naturally. That's my personal opinion.

I know how you feel! We have two known cheaters in my class and they get some of the top grades, it makes me so mad to hear them brag about it. On top of that, I actually bust my butt studying and EARNING the high marks I get, while they just cheat, and then get kudos from the instructors for their scores. I do think its going to come back and haunt them come NCLEX time though. It was very interesting to me that one of the cheaters failed our first ATI exam. Well, duh! You aren't learning the material.
I would almost have more sympathy if these girls were cheating just so they could pass, but they would have good grades, just maybe not the best in class if they just tested fairly like the rest of us.
I also hate that for so long it made others in the class feel bad because they were always bragging about their grades, making others in the class feel like they weren't doing very well.
Our instructors have been notified and there have been some changes in the way we take tests but I think the instructors haven't seen it first hand so their hands are tied, kwim?
im not in nursing school yet, but how exactly are they cheating. like little scratch sheets. or what?
yep, little scracth sheets, writing on her hand, writing answers on her desk, and so on...
do they sit in the back or something. i guess the instructor doesnt walk around. how do you know they are cheating. you see her or she tells you or both. i mean cheatin in prereqs okay not too risky but nursing school. they can kick her out. thats bad
She has a buddy, the buddy takes the test first, then tells Jan what's on the test. Jan has time to research the answers before taking the test herself. She has also been caught copying from another student. Jan also has a friend that regulates the online class, most of our tests are online. I don't know how she cheated for the other class, she just told me she did, I didn't ask details.

I would turn her in if I had a concrete evidence. It's not fair to other students and it's surely not fair to the future patients. We need to protect our profession. Cheating should never be tolerated in nursing. I think your professor would probably appreciate you letting him/her know (I know mine would).

There was a female last semester who bragged about the great grades she was getting in one of our classes. Everyone knew she was cheating. Well, I guess she was unable to cheat on the final, because the grade was so low, she actually failed. Would you like to guess who got the last laugh?
Anyway, last semester, I would get all worked up over cheaters. This semester I just don't have the time or energy.

I had to laugh b/c I had a "Jan" in my pre-req classes as well (seems like there's a Jan in every class). The best had to be when we took an open book exam for a class and all she did was copy the girl in front and even tried looking at my paper. The results ... she got low 80s while the rest of us got high 90s!! So much for cheating!! But like another person said ... cheating will not help her come time for the NCLEX. Poor girl.
to the other post. what do you mean she has a friend who regulates the online tests. she basically gives her the test or tells her whats on it?
