Strange requests from patients

Ok I get a lot of questions / requests from patients and parents. Yesterday on April 1 I had a parent ask me if I could measure her daughter for a proper fitting bra👀. Immediately I thought this is a April fools joke. Calmly I replied no but there are many department stores who can. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Mom was serious .

Wow. That's a first..never heard of that one.

The ones I especially like are the phone call at 4 pm to write an Rx for a new mattress. Has to be done a CERTAIN way "Tempurepedix XL 3459303 mattress. Diagnosis : chronic lumbar pain with radiculopathy, failed surgical intervention. " blah blah blah. Oh, and can you stop what you are doing right now and FAX it to me because I'm too lazy to come pick it up.

And yes, yes I am burned out, lol.

Hmmm, my graduate program didn't cover bra fittings, but maybe that's because I'm a child psych CNS ... :)

Patient yesterday called for an emergency sick visit. When she finally made it (last pt of the day and she was late arriving) it turns out she wanted an rx for a rash that wasn't even there any more but she wanted me to diagnose and give her an rx in case it came back!

Did you give her the script!??

This is the kind of visit where you wish there was a "secret" script that you could write so that people would think they have 'medicine' when it is in fact a placebo. When I said no to the invisible rash, she wanted me to tell her what was wrong with her arm because sometimes she had a pain in that too. Around this time, I was also feeling some pain :angrybird9:

(Lots of hospitals do have some means for providing haircuts for clients.)

I had a 18 yo female patient, who was close to being discharged, ask me to shave her lady parts! Seriously.

That's is just awesome! Best laugh in a while.

I've had requests to shave arm pits and legs and I thought that was outrageous.

I'm afraid my poker face wouldn't have held up over shaving the lady parts.
