Straighterline

Has anyone tried to use straighterline courses for pre reqs at a brick and mortar school? I contacted my adviser today and they would not accept even on an ace transcript. She said they will not accept any science courses that are completed online. I even mentioned a regionally accredited online college and she said no. Anyone else find a way around this? I know sometimes you can transcribe, so that it looks like it is from another brick and mortar college. Any suggs?

Fort Hays State University is a Straighterline partner college. In addition, it is a well-established brick-and-mortar school with a large distance learning department.

Fort Hays will accept and transcribe five of Straighterline's courses as their very own so that it appears as if you took the class directly at Fort Hays. College algebra, microeconomics, macroeconomics, accounting I, and accounting II are the five courses that Fort Hays will transcribe as their own. Unfortunately, they don't do this for any of the science courses.

Try to look for MissingMyErica. She took A&P II(didn't need the lab) and she said it was pretty challenging but then again she did it in FOUR days! Look for her on this forum and ask her about it.

I would highly recommend straighterline. I did my college Algebra through them and then had it sent to my community college through Fort Hays University. I also did A&P II without lab through them. I took A&P I with the lab at my CC, but since I was finishing up my RN with excelsior I didn't need the second lab. It was very challenging, but I did complete it in four days. I didn't buy the book because I had my book from A&P I that covered all systems. I read the summary at the end of each chapter then took the test. I would NOT recommend doing it like this, but I had just finished A&P1 and micro, so alot of the stuff I already knew. I only got a final grade of C, but at that point I just wanted to get my RN completed and didn't care. I plan on taking my statistics though them for my BSN. I'll let you know how that goes. Good luck!

p.s. If I remember correctly there were 14 tests a midterm and final. Something like that....ha!...my brain is seriously fried!

Missingmy Erica:

Re SL A&P -- how difficult was the Final? Did they make you use ProctorU? SL says WGU requires a proctor -- as in a webcam where you are watched like solitary confinement. And you have to pay extra for it and get a computer with a webcam :(

Thanks!!!

Straighterliner, is a great source for credits: I highly recommend it.

I did straighterline for A and P 1 and 2; I didn't complete the labs, because I didn't end up needing them.. but I did buy the kit and never opened it (this was over the summer). I was thinking I may need to take it because I was debating where to take my BSN but its looking like I won't need it if I do my BSN through EC or SNHU.

I did both sections in about 2.5 weeks; I ended up with a 91 for each class. It was totally doable. I was on vacation at the time so I did the reading, having the book they recommend really helps. You do have to do the proctored final, but if your grade is high enough in the class going into the proctored final you don't really have anything to worry about even if you don't do well on the final.
