Anyone else taking statistics this semester? Classes started today and I'm already feeling overwhelmed!

That's the test I just took. I thought I knew what I was doing, but I guess not so much lol

Good luck on your test!

We have our normal distribution test on thurs. Can't wait ;) I have z-scores swimming around in my head!

I'm having a hard time keeping all these forumulas straight. There are soo many steps to solve every problem! Sheesh. Look it up in the table, Subtract from .5, add to .5...

lol

The teacher taught us how to use our calculators to find z scores and probability but I just like using the table. So much easier!

OoO -- the calculator? I might have to mess around with that. I didn't pay too much attention to the calculator part.

I have been using a TI-83PLus. It does not do everything for you. You still have to know the concepts. But, once you get it down...no more charts....no more drawing a distribution to make sure you are getting the right region. Because you don't have to memorise the various formulas, it is a lot easier to understand the concepts.

Our text book even has a tutorial for the TI-83 in each section. I downloaded the help application, so I don't even have to memorise what goes where when entering the information into the calculator. Almost feels like cheating, but my professor doesn't think so. Right now I have a 110% in the class....whish I could send some of those points to some of my other classes.

I would STRONGLY recommend to anybody taking statistics...to get one of these calculator. I got mine off of ebay for about $50.

I have a TI-82 and it doesn't do the z-score stuff. I just draw a quick graph and i'm good to go. I was done in 15 min with this last test on z-scores and distribution and the people with the fancy calculators took the whole hour!

I have noticed most people buy these calculators....but never spend the time to learn how they work. They might as well have an adding machine.

Once you get to know your machine, they can save you tons of time. And, like I said you don't have to remember all the formulas.

Normals distribution probabilities and areas....binomial distributions....etc are all a snap.

I highly recommend getting the Catalog Help App it really helps when it comes time to use some of the functions.

So, did everyone drop? Heh! I have my final in two weeks. I have a 90.3 average right now, so I sure hope I can get an A on my final! Good luck to everyone :D

I'm still here. We have our final on Tues. Just took the last regular test this week. I have like a 130% average in the class, so i'm not too worried about the final.

Just sold my stat book on amazon for $50 too. Whoo hoo!

Wow, that's awesome!

I have a 90.3 avg, so I hope I do well enough on the final to get the A. It will cover everything from day one. My test is on the 12th.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great. Ours covers everything too. I need to organize everything this weekend.
