Statistics

Anyone else taking statistics this semester? Classes started today and I'm already feeling overwhelmed!

Good luck! I take the probibility test next week. All these formulas! Ahh! :)

Well, I got a 90. Blah. There were a few questions that were weird that I probably got wrong. But I turned in my homework, so that adds on 10% points, so I really got a 100! Yay!

Do your teachers grade your homework just to see if it is finished, or do they check to see if you got the answers right? My teacher takes off if you got the answer wrong. I've never had a math class like that, and it really bites big toes!

Well, our homework is all the odd problems, so the answers are in the back. She also goes over homework in class to make sure we know what we're doing.

I have no idea how she grades it actually. I never see anything marked on it. I'm guess she just looks and sees if we have it completed? No idea.

My Community College offers a 3-credit (I think) Intro to Statistics over the 11 day Wintersession. Am I nuts to consider taking it? I'm doing 20 units now...and its stressful, but I'm on a mission. 6 weeks of InOrganic Chem almost sent me to the :lol2:nuthouse :lol2: :lol2: and I'm looking at mostly accelerated BSNs, so maybe I'm a glutton for punishment?

Those of you with Stats experience...what would you do?

:blushkiss I HAVE THE BEST INSTRUSTOR ;FIRST OF ALL ,HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL ALL TEST ARE OPEN NOTEBOOK AND BOOK, SHE GIVES US A STUDY GUIDE BEFORE TEST TO STUDY FROM WHICH IS JUST LIKE THE TEST WHICH CAN BE USED DURING THE TEST, SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE GOTTEN A 100 ON BOTH OF OUR TEST. I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE STATISTICS!

An entire stat class in 11 days?? How long is class? I could maybe see it happening if you go for full days everyday. Stat is pretty easy and I only go for about 45 min 2x a week.

I'd do it! I love mini-mester classes. Especially in stats, where there isn't much to memorize. You just have to know how to apply the forumulas.

Yeah, most teachers just check to see if it is finished. I wish we had questions from the book so I could check my answers. It's frustrating when I think I'm doing it right, but miss something silly.

The homework in my stats class is checked for the correct answers only, but I do have a few assignments where I have to show my work. (My class is online.) I think I would like to have taken stats over 11 days. Of course, that would have to be the only class I would take. To me, this class isn't as hard as algebra, but I'm still a math-a-phobe, so I have to spend hours doing problems in order to "get" it.

Maybe it's just an online thing then, because my class is online, too. We don't normally have too many problems -- just one or two of each type.

Wow, I got a B on my second test and it brought my average down to a B. I actually thought I'd made a higher B or a low A, so that's a little disturbing. I hope she will let me know what I got wrong.

I have homework due tonight over normal distribution. Has anyone else started this stuff yet?

My class starts the normal distribution next week, but I have a test later this week on probability, and finding the mean, standard deviation, and variance for binominal distributions. :uhoh3:
