hi !
you do not need a SSN to take the NCLEX-RN.
But, you will need one to get the BON to issue your license once you have passed your test .
Good luck !

In addition, the social security number (SSN) the application packets from the BON or BRN (CA) are referring to are the U.S. SSN and not from the Phil.
Just leave this blank as this is what all Filipino applicants have done before w/ no problems whatsoever.
I would also re-consider applying for CA BRN directly for initial licensure as this is will take usually 4-6 months. Fastest I know is 3 months but this is rare and the longest I know is 8-9 months. Also, you would have to wait for 3-4 weeks for you to know the result via snail mail and as the poster said above they will not give you a license afterwards until you are already in the U.S. where your can apply for the U.S. SSN.
Some applicants nowadays apply for VT and NM or any other State that relatively process faster and willing to give a license w/o a US SSN requirement and just apply for 'Licensure for Endorsement' to CA BRN either during the immigration procedure or once they are in the U.S. already.
Proof of passing the NCLEX is all that it takes to start the petition process and it doesn't matter w/c State you went through at first and where you'll end up later.

Lets back up just a minute so that you have the correct information that you need. You are not applying for the NCLEX exam, you are actually applying to a state for licensure. The NCLEX exam is only one step in the licensing process, and requires approval from a state before you are able to sit for that exam.
But also suggest that you do some reading on the Philippine Forum. CGFNS has not given word yet as to if they will issue Visa Screen Certificates to those that took the June exam. They have all of them waiting, nothing has been issued per CGFNS if that exam was taken. You may be rewriting that exam before you will be able to get a visa to work in the US.
And CA is the solwoest in terms of states for intial licensure, the wait time to get the okay to sit for the exam, plus the four weeks of waiting to get your results by snail mail.
Suggest that you do some more reading before dropping that application in the mail.

If you are here, two weeks at least.

Mine was four months.
Hi Rep
Four months???it is very long.
I am little bit confused,Rep.
Do you mean that you wait for four months to get RN license because of this delay????
I think Rep was referring to his eligibility from CA BRN and not the SSN

What I mean, four months for my eligility from CA BRN. Two weeks for the SSN#. And I got my plastic license for the RN a week after I took the NCLEX-RN. The result only four days. Guess I was lucky.
