I'm considering to pick CA for my NCLEX license, though I'm not closing my doors for NY.
However, since I don't have a SSN yet, will my initial application (ATT) for CA BON be approved? In their application form, it states there that disclosure of ssn is mandatory and failure to do so will result of not having my papers processed. Is this something I should worry about?
I appreciate anyone's interpretation and expert advise esp. from those who have undergone the same procedure from my fellow Filipinos who took up CA licensing.
More power and many thanks to ALL!

I would call the BON directly for the right answer.
Even if someone else did it a certain way, it could have changed, they could remember it wrong, etc.
Find out first hand and make sure even that person is 100% for sure (I'd ask for the person who knows all the application rules at the beginning of the call). Good luck!

you do not need the SSN to apply for eligibility. once found eligible, CA BON will send you your ATT. your application to CA BON will not be disapproved just by the absence of SSN. they need your SSN so they can issue you your license once you pass the NCLEX. hope this helps.
i really appreciate your contribution.
well it seems others don't take this route due to the long processing time (4-6 mos. ++).
Those who have taken the CA licensure, can you post the actual time it took you to get an exam seat from the time of application to the actual exam date?

Hi Loryn! I took my NCLEX exam in Hongkong last March. it took 4 months for me to be eligible to take the exam. Once eligible it took about 2 months before i actually took the exam for the reason that many are taking exam in Hongkong and the available date given to me at that time was in March. You do not need ss3 to be eligible to take exam in CA , however you need the SS# to be given a license if you passed the exam.
the more i read about the regrets of people who took the CA BON, the more I get interested to file instead for NY. Anyone with me?

i'd go through minnesota for initial licensure. by far, it's the fastest and most efficient state board. in fact, it's the most efficiently run government agency that i've ever seen.
after you get a minnesota license, it's usually a lot faster to get endorsement to the state you want to work in than to go through the hoops for original licensure.
you may want to call them to see if this helps you.
good luck.

hi jat-phil :)
would it be okay if i ask the details on how you applied exactly the process for nclex-CA? the exact amount to pay for the application. then the exam axactly and also the school payment? can you give me the steps? im so confused from what i have read from the different web sites i entered to on how really the process for application works til you'll be able to get the approval for examination. and also the visa screen, when will you apply for that and its process also how? hope you could help me.
thank you soo much :)
well, i'm in florida, so it only took me 2 days total, once minnesota got my affidavit of completion. i did drive 100 miles to find an open seat for the nxclex.
i don't know how the rules would apply to you, but i'd give them a try. i suspect they're incredibly faster than california :).
