Spring 2018 MDC Nursing Program

Your composite score is an 83 (85x.6=51, 3.2x10=32). On the past years that's been enough to get into the program. And they always say spring admission has an easier time than fall.

I think for some people it will just depend on which track they applied for and when that will determine within which wave of acceptances they get in. For example those who applied for generic in June and July and meet the requirements will get accepted in the first wave. As people decline their seats then those who applied in August and up to sept 1st will get letters in the second wave. But since less people apply for accelerated someone could've applied on August 31, for accelerated, and still get an acceptance in the first wave. In past threads a few people got accepted for accelerated and not generic because the quota for generic had been met by the time they got to their generic application.

Again the months I stated above I used as examples to explain my point. Just wanted to show that a majority of us will probably get in just not all at the same time.

I wish I knew how many people applied to the accelerated option. With all the threads on here there is usually only a hand full of people. I knew it's not ideal because you need the bachelors degree and it's a lot crammed in the first semester. When I applied after I took the hesi it seemed like everyone applied for the generic full time. It gives me hope that I'll get in the first wave since it seems not a lot of people applied for AO

I got an 88 on the HESI and 3.6 gpa. Crossing my fingers for the accelerated option!

I applied for both the AO and generic, but hoping to get into the generic. I don't mind the extra semester

I feel the same way @futurebsn92! I applied for accelerated and generic but I want accelerated. I feel good because I turned in my app at the beginning of July. And also because when I talked to a lot of the people in my prereq classes like hsc3000 they said that even though they met the requirements to apply for accelerated they were going to do generic anyway

@jenneraytion that's my hope that no one wants to do accelerated over generic lol. I wont be working for the first semester because I want to focus 100% on school. Are you guys going to wait for your acceptance letters for the vaccines and finger prints? I feel like I might start doing it in the beginning of Oct that way everything will be done on time.

Do we do the vaccines and fingerprints on campus?

I know that MDC only accepts the background check from the specific place that will be mentioned in the acceptance email. It's like $56. MDC also has a package offered by their clinic for the physical, titers and the 10 panel test we need for $345

Do we have to do a cpr class before getting into the program or can we do it during? I know we will find everything out when they send the letters but I want to get as much stuff done before then

CPR is one of the things we're required to have done before we register for classes. We're gonna use a website called complio and all of the requirements: background check, cpr, titers, vaccines if necessary, will be uploaded to complio and they'll verify that we've met MDCs needs. Believe me, I already have a list and an estimate of how much each step will cost so that I have the money set aside

For those doing AO are y'all applying for loans? And if so, when? I talked to financial aid yesterday and they gave me a vague anwer about getting more info for loans at orientation. I know in a previous year orientation for AO wasn't until the first week of December and that just seems late to me. I've also never taken out loans before so the whole process is a little bit foreign to me
