Spring 2017 Chat

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

I think it's pretty doable as long as you can effectively manage time well. A&P didn't take much of my day as long as I was actively studying and not looking up cat pictures online.

Quizlet is a godsend for quizzing on terminology (plus the app is amazing and you can use it on your phone for studying on the go~!). One of my best purchases though has been a whiteboard (got a decent sized one from costco for like $20). It makes brainstorming and organizing ideas so much easier.

Also - Netter's Anatomy Coloring Book. $15 from amazon, great excuse to break out the crayolas and relax/study at the same time ;)

Harry! You sound like me... looking at cat pictures lol

Chance010507 Your post has me nervous about taking the HESI this week! I have to take Math, Grammer, Vocab, Reading Comp, Biology, Chemistry, and A&P! I've been studying using the Pocket Prep App, HESI prep book, Trivium book and a practice test book (has 3 full tests in it).

What kinds of questions were there if they weren't covered in the app and HESI book? Were they more specific? I only have this one shot taking the test.

Hello everyone. My winter session starts today actually, I'll be taking lifespan psych. Unfortunately my school only offered one class this winter session and the professor has a 1.8 rating on rmp. I'm taking it with a grain of salt because as we all know everyone is different and some of those may be revenge ratings. The course is 6 weeks and spring semester starts immediately after. I'm lucky to only have 2 classes this spring, microbiology and a theater class to fulfill my art requirement and then it's finally graduation for me. I'll be receiving 2 AA degrees in natural science and social and behavioral science.

On on another note I'm sure glad anatomy and physiology are over, those were some very challenging courses and I'm embarrassed to say I got a C in both. It looks like I may have to go to LVN school before RN school since my grades probably won't be competitive enough. I won't let it discourage me though. I'll do whatever it takes and try harder this time.

They help to break up the monotony of textbooks every now and again haha

Just a reminder - our scholarship applications just opened today, so you might check with your school and fill those forms out!

it was a lot more specific. I had a few questions about ear structures and their purpose, locations of veins and their specific functions, vague descriptions of the body and how another body part would be positioned, a lot of terms that were just not covered and lots of specificity with hormones and locations or hormonal structures. I believe I recognized 3 similar sounding but worded differently questions from the app and book out of all of the questions I had in the A&P section. I know one of them involved Calcium and Bones.

Math was almost all fractions and two or three conversions. It was mostly NOT multiple choice but type in your answer (which had me really scared!!) Vocab was ridiculously easy. Reading comp was easy too but there were a few tricky ones about what the reader was trying to convey, state of mind, or audience. Biology was very general. All of those were covered in the book and app and were very similar.

Haha I hear ya... I always end up pintrest adding the pics to my "cuteness" bored when I suddenly hear my boyfriend whisper to me, " that doesn't look like studying to me"

He just doesn't understand :)

Thank you! I think I'll be focusing on A&P a bit more now! Stinks that the math is type in your answer! But, that's my best subject - just need to take my time. I know I need to go over hormone/gland information - That always messes me up!

I love this thread! So I have a pretty packed semester coming up:

A&P I + lab

Micro + lab

General Chem + lab

Plus I'm working 8.5 hour shifts at a hospital as a service coordinator on Fri/Sat/Sun and I'm a competitive/sponsored crossfit athlete so I train 2ish hours 6 days/week. I'm excited though! :)

Less than a week of freedom for me :)

My government class published early and it looks like I have to do a service learning project. Not thrilled about that, because the place I already volunteer isn't on the list of accepted sites.

Same here, I start next wed! I have a feeling this week is going to fly! That's a bummer about the service learning :/

HEY HAS ANYONE TAKEN MICROBIOLOGY ONLINE WITH LAB THAT DIDNT NEED A LAB KIT??!
