SPC Nursing Program Spring 2014

I didn't receive any info about the orientation. Does anybody know where I can find it and what I need to bring?

You take the TEAS test in the nursing testing center on the 2nd floor. You have to schedule it. It basically tests your knowledge from everything science, history, georgraphy, basic algebra and math, anatomy, etc. Don't freak out about it, it's just to help your instructor see where you need more help at that's all.

For finerprinting, the administrator will approve it, don't worry too much about it..mine wasn't approved till 4 weeks into the semester and if you have something on your background, trust me you wont be able to start, they will make sure you are pulled from class till the issue is resolved, so don't freak out if it hasn't been checked off yet, during enrollment they have over 120 of them to process along with dealing with this and that and questions and answers and registrations. You get the point.

My recommendation is, try to stay on top of things and read ahead IF you can. The tests are not easy. Level is the foundation for everything you do. If you don't build a solid foundation you will be behind. My suggestion is to start understanding and memorizing lab values because it will help you in clinicals and understanding the body a little more better.

Another recommendation is, although I don't recommend the SPC book package, since I only used my FUNDAMENTALS book, if you want to know whats essential for level 1, its the FUNDAMENTALS Book, the NANDA book and I strongly suggest you buy a good physio/pathology book (you will need it) and buy the Basic fundamentals for success book. It will help you out for tests TREMENDOUSLY. The questions in that book are almost identical to what the test questions will look like.

Thank you for your advice! What level are you on or did you already graduate? What Physio/pathology book did you find helpful? I already bought the book package. Where is everyone doing their clinicals at? I'm at St. Anthonys

I used the Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Easy book, which explains things in a very easy to understand way. This kind of book will help you a lot when you start doing care plans.

Congratulation! If u don't mind me asking....what was ur gpa? I'm planning to apply for the fall 2014. However my gpa isn't very high. . I just want to see if I even have a shot at getting in.

Are you a pinellas county resident? I have everything done except ethics and a 3.7 gpa. I am worried about not being an in county resident tho:(

Hi everyone :) I am happy I found this post, I have heard that SPC is very competitive, I am wondering what your GPA's going in were and if you were residents? (I heard that is a really big deal at SPC)

I can't wait until I get accepted. I still have one more semester left of classes to do though. I am taking my ethics class during the summer, and then take Stats and Micro in the Fall. Then all of my prereqs will finally be done. What is the average GPA to get in right now? I have a 3.8. I am hoping this is enough to get me in.
