Today i went for registration, my classes start the 17th August but we were told that first few days we're going to have our orientation and get all our student cards etc organised and all that. and then our third week there clinicals already start... :stone:eek::uhoh21: i'm so nervous for it though coz my classes havnt even started and then clinicals already start. Just someone shake me so i can stop stressing lol.
I dont know how it works in the states or the uk, how fast do you guys start your clinicals?
and for those who already started them, is it hard?
i dont know if our clinicals are same as yours? ours are in the hospital and you work under a nurse, is it the same there?
good news though is i got my hospital of choice :) yay me! it's the best trauma hospital in my province and i'm so happy about it because i want to specialise in trauma :)
Please bring me out of this panic lol..

I start on the 17th, too. I think we are having clinicals the 4th or 5th week. I'm scared sh!tless, too, believe me. All I can think of is that others have done it before us, and we can do it, too. The rest of our lives might fall apart, but what the heck.
In fact, I should be doing my reading assignments right now, but I'm procrastinating, darn it.
lol @ the rest of our lives might fall apart... i agree, i'm already having to move closer to the college and that scares me too, coz i'll not know anyone or the area lol. I'm only moving the sunday before my classes start too so that's nerve wrecking lol. I'm a mixture between excitement and nerves for classes lol

I am going into my final year of an ADN program, and can tell you that clinicals do get better. Not that it gets easier, but you get more comfortable with the routine of it. My very first clinical was in a nursing home and we had two students to one patient... We just helped with bed bath, and morning activities. But i was shaking like a leaf. You will always remember your first patient, though. Although I do still get nervous in clinicals... (Its not walk in the park! ) , I am happy to look back at how nervous/terrified/uneasy/unknowledgeable I was in my first semester and realize the progress and personal growth I have made! Just remember that everyone else is nervous too, and that it will pass.
I wish you the best of luck!!:redbeathe

We will have a 3-day orientation, that will consist of the first week of fall semester, starting Aug. 24th. It is like the eighth week that we begin clinicals. I will have my clinical at a community hospital and it is very, very busy. But the coordinator said it is the best place to learn, so I want the experience. I am going to volunteer to do everything and try to be like a sponge and learn everything. Normally I am shy, but I will push myself!
