Snow and your supervisors

Did your NMs come in to help during the recent storm? Sheesh they managed to make snippy phone calls from their sofas mandating us to come in for our shifts. Am I wrong to feel like it would have meant a lot if just one of them had come in to see how we were holding up or, gasp, help out?

Ok, most won't, but I will say this: during the blizzard of 04....lol.....we were short aides and the DON came in and worked as an aide.....you read right! I miss that place...............

that DON is my hero :yeah: Good for her!

In DC here, the hospital closed its doors and wouldnt let us leave, I spent a day sleeping there and worked 6 12 hr nights in a row...I'm from Massachusetts and couldn't believe it!

Our upper management came in early Saturday morning-as early as they could get there-and everyone that came to work Friday night got a 30 dollar gift card to Walmart and a free movie ticket :specs:

my nurse manager was there from 0630-2130 and only left after she made sure that the night shift was settled, the day shift was staffed and those of us who were staying overnight had a bed to sleep in and meal tickets for use in the cafeteria. my manager was awesome!

We just had a storm also....the DON didnt come to work that day....the administrator called in all our 2nd shift aides at 8 am....then let the day aides leave early....no 3rd shift aides could get in....I sent 4wd to get one and 4wd couldnt get to her where she was at (gated area)....so we had to have some stay and got a prn aide in there but had to send 4wd to get her......all the nurses made it..I have 4wd and I left at my regular time but I live 5 mins from work and it took me over an hour to get to work and get home. I almost didnt make it out of the parking lot even with 4wd. I was terrified to drive on that stuff...but I made it. In my 10 yrs nearly, Ive yet to see any manager stay and help in a storm.
