Should this stop me from being an RN

If the thought of giving bed baths, wiping butts, dealing with poop and vomit is really gross to me? Any other nurses or nursing students like this? I like everything else about nursing though

Fyi, poop and vomit aren't any nurse's favorite part of the job. But you're going to encounter all sorts of bodily fluids, and you can't just pass those jobs on to other people. If you are wanting to be the traditional type nurse that works on a hospital floor, you gotta learn to deal with it.

Find another line of work...We do not need any more nurses who are " Grossed Out" by aspects of the job involved in personal care of sick people...

That's a little harsh.

After all, the OP could be like I used to be before I decided to become a nurse. Back then, I couldn't even clean up my own kids' vomit or pick up dog feces off the floor (long story). But if Iwas able to overcome it, perhaps the OP can too if she wants to be a nurse bad enough.

If you really want to be a nurse, you'll learn to deal with it.

"I'm afraid of the water, I can't swim, and I get sea sick....but I like everything else about being a cruise ship Captain".

Does it sound like this person should be a captain of a ship?

Well......Yes......when they learn to swim, get something for sea sickness and become unafraid of the water. They may never really like to swim and sometimes get queasy but eventually they get used to it and aren't so afraid anymore.

We don't "like" these tasks but you do them becasue it's a part of the job....and have gotten used to them.

It is up to you what you want to do.
