I recently took the entrance exam for the LPN program at Erie 1 Boces and passed with flying colors. I'm so excited to start in October!!! :) But I was wondering if I should get some work experience while in the program like (HHA or CNA) or will the clinical's be good enough once I'm finish? The program is for 12 months.

The only thing being a HHA and or CNA will help you with is patient care, clinicals, vital signs, and some parts of nursing fundamentals which are easy things that you will pick up on once you start nursing school. It wont help you with anything else in nursing. I wont tell you yes and I wont tell you know, but I enjoyed being a cna and it helped me so little during nursing school.

Gaining work experience is never a minus. Besides it's money in your pocket that can help you pay for the program. You always gain experience and knowledge from anything you do in this life. So yes work as a CNA or HHA for the meantime. Hospitals and LTC facilities will appreciate a LPN with any form of healthcare experience besides "school" work/experience.

It will also help you make professional connections which is always a good thing.
It sure will, I meant to throw that in there :)
