Shingles

So I know that shingles can be spread to babies and immunocompromised people, but I'm wondering if that would include lymes disease? Is a person with lymes considered immunocompromised?

    Seriously, I am scared to death of catching shingles. I had the vaccination last year (my insurance covered it at age 50) but I have recently seen really young people with it (25-40) Eyes, face, throat, one woman lost half her vocal chords to it. I am wondering if they will change recommendations for vaccination if the trend continues. I don't know if shingles is reportable/being followed. I have also seen many pts under 50 that have had it TWICE; second time not as bad.

    That sounds more like hsv.

    I'm in home health and have had many patients with shingles. Not a one had another person in the home "catch" it, much of the time they didn't know what they had and sure weren't practicing precautions. Anecdotal of course and apparently everyone had had chickenpox (adult population).
