Schoolcraft Nursing Program

Does anyone know anything about the schoolcraft college nursing program by chance? I was told that there is a 2 yr waiting list but how do they go by picking who gets in or not? Is it based primarily on GPA and completion of pre-reqs?

I was just with my counselor last Friday and she confirmed the waiting list is for 2013 already. Obviously this doesn't mean it will take that long (hopefully!) From the sounds of things, it moves a little quicker than what we might think.

YIKES. I know it is not Schoolcraft's fault but this whole waiting list thing everywhere is very discouraging. I'm just glad I have a guaranteed start date.

Your right -- it is very discouraging!! That's why I try to focus on the fact that it probably won't take as long as they tell you.

Did you take your TEAS at Schoolcraft? Any pointers? I am scheduled to take mine in Jan.

Does the nursing program let you know what number you are on the list or is the "don't ask, don't tell policy" in effect?

Is Macomb Community College the only school with no waiting list?

I know 5 people who took the TEAS. They all passed. My hold up for the program was passing Anatomy (which I finally did with a 3.8 after a ridiculous number of attempts, I was never good at studying.) So when I started @ Scraft I took the NET in 2007 and since it was valid for 5 years my test score was still valid, even after they switched to the TEAS. I believe it is the same test. A diverse range of science questions from micro to anatomy to chemistry and then your basic english and mathematics.

They will not give you an exact number, but will give you an idea where you are at on the list. They do not want to be held to any given quote, perhaps because the list does change so quickly, with people accepting spots at other schools, etc. . . . you will at least know what year you are set for when you apply. Then from there, you just pray that many people in front of you get accepted elsewhere!!

Hi! I am also on the 2011 waitlist! I was wondering if anyone has or knows someone who has moved up on the any of the lists yet!!!!

Hi-

I read your post and wanted to let you know...

Schoolcraft usually sends out letters to the fall class (fall 2010 this September) towards the end of March. The letters have to be sent back stating whether you still want your spot or not. When they get those back, they start moving people up depending on how many "no" responses they received back.

I'm in Med-Surg now at Schoolcraft and I was moved up a year and received the good news in April of last year.

I know it's very hard to wait.

Good luck to you.

Hello,

This is a school that I was considering and was just wondering....do I have to have ALL pre req's finished before I can even get on the list? I believe the classes that I have left are just AP and I am considering doing the condensed class over the summer (if I can make it through!!) But if I was at least able to put my name on the list that would help! You would think that schools would at least allow you to do that and if the classes weren't finished by the time they got to your name they would skip you. Where is a school that would do it like that!!:lol2:

I don't want to say anything definitive here as the prereqs seem to constantly change but A&P and chemistry have to be done to get on the list.

You should go to the Schoolcraft website, you can actually print out an application that will tell you what you need to have done.

Very best of luck to you ; )

Thank you! I looked on there and it is required but I am going to take a condensed class during the spring/summer so that I can get it done and be able to apply before the fall starts. I am trying to get on as many lists as possible and have even opened my options to LPN programs (altho I would prefer an RN program) hopefully something happens for me soon because I am so tired of all this waiting! At least I have a place like this to go to and know that I am not alone!!
