I can't quite believe that reason for the recorders. It would be a hipaa violation for the instructors to mention names in class, which they don't. Telling a story is not a hipaa violation. Look at all the stories told on this website.

Here's the reason...they don't want the 11am class to complain they didn't get "X" information, like the 2pm class got...go into the office armed with recorders...and fight every little thing during nursing school.

Some of the instructors allowed recorders when I went there, but not until 2nd semester/4th semester. I don't think I ever went back and listened, but it was a nice safety net incase I missed something.

For those of you just starting, one of the instructors talks "regular" speed during lecture, but tends to read PP slides verbatim. Another speed talks, does NOT read PP verbatim, which you would think you would welcome, but there were several times she was talking so fast, zipping from one PP slide to another, that I finally just tossed my pen out of my hand and smiled at my friend next to me.

I suggest sitting next to someone you know, or see as having the same learning mode as you. Whatever notes you didn't catch/hear/notice, they might have some of it.

i'm with woogy... i know a bs when i hear one! i don't buy the patient violation protection thing they will use --->> not to allow recorders. woogy is right... the real reason is, it's more to "protect" the instructors' behinds, so that no student can/may use their words against them. it's just ashame that we, students, can't do anything about it. oh well, i'm just thankful i'm not paying insane $$$ for tuition plus, csn is worth every penny!

thanks woogy for the heads up!

One more "heads up". A first/third semester instructor frequents this board.

As far as worth every penny...I received a MUCH better education for a few thousand than one of my best friends, who spent $100,000 on her education (although it was a BSN). She didn't get nearly the quality education that CSN puts out. I started work with all BSN's in our new grad class and they were all astounded at the level of competence and information in my overwhelmed brain. Felt fantastic!

Thanks for that woogy. Always great to hear a rave review about CSN especially since we are about to start in about 10 days!!

yes as i've said before i loved the RN CSN program .. the teachers are great and i loved the clinicals. i really believe it is the best in las vegas... but i'm partial.... i love the program and grateful to be a graduate and passed boards first try 75 questions !! they train you for boards from the begining , and you are ready to take them when you graduate. just doing everything the teachers say because they really do know best and you will be fine...

good luck to you all !!
