Saunders and Suzanne...

I wanted to say to everyone that Saunders is the best book that was ever recommended to me. Every single disease that was not taught to me in nursing school and that was not in the kaplan book was in Saunders. It is a colossal book but it's worth having it along with the questions. I had 265 questions and I was able to answer them because of Saunders. By the way Suzanne thank you :)

Also one question (since you seem to know the answer most of the time...lol) what is up with these herbal questions? I had about 3 questions on them and I mean specific ones :uhoh21: . These were not taught at my school. And they are not part of the 15 pilot question because I got them around 180's. Can not really tell if I answered them right or wrong.

Anyway would like to have your input on the subject if you know about it.

Thanks for the info on the Saunders book. That's the one that I have. I agree--it's very good.

Nothing is up with the herbal questions, it is something that you need to know and actually should be using on a daily basis when you are at work.

Examples, there are quite a few herbal meds that are used on a daily basis by quite a few of your patients that you may not be aware of, but you should know. They can interfere with different medications that you are giving them..When you are admitting a patient, besides asking a patient what meds are they on, also ask them if they are taking any vitamins or any herbals meds or meds not prescribed by their doctor.

Simple one, many take Echinacea to prevent colds, but this can cause an adverse effect if the patient is starting a chemotherapy regimen, it will keep the chemo from working, others can influence bleeding, etc.

Remember that most drugs that we use nowadays started off as herbal medications in the old days..Digoxin or its basic form was herbal. :)

Which Saunders book did you use?

I used the green covered one : COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW FOR NCLEX-RN EDITION 2.

And how exactly were you using it? That may be the biggest problem.

im using the Saunders Comprehensive Review nclex-pn.
