I don't know if it will make it worse, the first few months can be horrendous with premies, when RSV season hits. With some babies it was a revolving door, but things did improve as they got older (and bigger).
Did he get Synagis? it doesn't stop RSV, but they don't usually get as sick. I'm sorry your little guy is having such problems. Hang in there, mom!

Oh, I am soo sorry... Usually we end up going to PICU and caring for these kids when we float...they are sick for a long time and sometimes they are on the vent for a while. It is a long recovery and they get almost like an adult version of RDS.
Take care and I hope he gets off the vent quickly!
My son (a 25 weeker, now 4 months old) was admitted to ICU last week after testing + for RSV Bronchiolitis. Over the weekend we were told that this had progressed to a serious condition called "Bronchiolitis Obliterans".
Im wondering whether any of you have any input or information on this. We have been told that there is no more medicine that can cure Jacob. he is on everything available. We know the outlook is grim, but I was wondering if you know of any survivors that had this as a result of RSV.
Very sad. jacobs mum

No, I have no info on this, but hopefully someone here will.
I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that your son is so ill.
Just wanted to let you know I CARE, and that I hurt with you.
Warmest hugs and wishes for a most speedy recovery for your wee one.

jacob is my 25 weeker (now 4 months actual and 3 weeks asjusted). We have been home from the NICU for 3 weeks only and Jacob has been readmitted into PICU with Severe RSV. Paralyzed, vented at 100% and heavily sedated. Left lung has partially collapsed and the right lung is looking awful.
We have been off oxygen since 39 weeks gestation and I am wondering if this Bronciolitis will set him back any with his lungs? Does CLD/BPD tend to worsen after a bout of this?
Thanks in advance
