Running out of Steam!

I wonder how many other nursing students feel like I do? I have been going to school LPN-BSN since March 2008 and finish in Feb 2011. I am so sick of school. If I write one more paper or Powerpoint presentation or care plan--I will loose it! I have run out of drive, will, excitement! Blah! So what can I do to keep motivated it still seems so far until its over? Any tips you have would be great!!

I feel your pain! It has been a long road and at times it's been very hard to motivate myself to keep going. I try to close my eyes and remember the day I got thte acceptance letter in the mail...I was so excited and really couldn't believe they were going to let me in! It was a great day for me and I'm sure you had one just like it.

If NS is really that bad, you can roll over all your credits into Excelsior's ADN program and have your degree sooner rather than later. You won't have a BSN, but you will still be able to become an RN.

Play Pokemon! Or not. The point is, make sure you have something that is absolutely non-school related that you can turn to so that you can give your exhausted mind a break. Countdowns seem to work for me to help keep my sanity--have a countdown till graduation. I also read some nursing blogs to remind me of why I'm doing this.

I play farmville and cafe world on FB. Stupid, mindless games, but they're nice and distracting for a few minutes when I get home from school.

I love school, but I'm definitely getting a bit burned out. My LPN program is one full year, so I'll finish up in two weeks and then start the RN program the next week. I'm really trying to keep my energy up. I don't want to start the new program dragging.

thanks for the replies I play games on FB too. I did not like Excelsior's program NOT for me! And I am planning a weekend get away before starting my final clinical rotation in ICU!! I will need it :clown:

The weekend get-a-way sounds like a fabulous idea. Take the opportunity to kick back and relax, recharge those batteries. It's amazing what a little R&R can do. Don't be afraid to treat your self to a movie or other distraction once in a while either.

i love pokemon
