RN and Paramedic

Does your hospital pay more if you are also a paramedic, and if so how much more. Thank you.

Not in my level one ER - new grad RN's are new grad RN's. Good luck in school.

I personally do not know of one that does. In the hospital setting, they are two entirely different jobs. You have more options open to you later on with flight medicine, etc. But for routine ER work, no difference.

Nope, I get paid the same as everyone else.

the only time i got paid for my paramedic education was when i worked in the er as a tech (actually, they were paying for an associated degree which just happened to be in paramedicine [associate degrees were not yet required for paramedics in my state]). however, when i became a nurse tech (having completed the first semester of nursing school), i was no longer paid the 'education' pay.

when i made rn, the only additional pay i got was for facility longevity.

Nope - No extra for any prehospital provider certifications. We do get a small one-time bonus for CEN or CCRN certifications.

No. In fact, the fact that I am a paramedic also (23 years) in addition to an ER nurse (15 years) means absolutley nothing to nursing administration (even though my paramedic skills has saved the doc and the patient on more than one occasion).

I also get no extra pay for the following:

CEN

CCRN-CMC

ABLS

ACLS-Instructor

PALS-Instructor

ENPC-Instructor

TNCC-Instructor

TNATC

ATCN

PPC-Instructor

BTLS-Instructor

and so on and so on.....

Sucks to be a nurse sometimes.
