RN licensing issues

Published

Hi,

I am in some very desperate need for advice. I recently received a letter from the Illinois department of federal regulations(IDFPR). The letter states that there are some errors and deficiencies. Long story short I grew up in the inner city got into a little trouble here and there and got arrested quite a bit between the ages of 18 and 23(I am currently 35). These charges ranged from possession of cannabis, aggravated assault, battery, disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property, driving on a suspended license. The letter stated these charges along with a hate crime in which I was never arrested for. I did however give the police a statement that resulted in somebody else getting arrested and charged. Also I received supervision (I successfully completed supervision) for criminal trespassing (offroading where I shouldn't have) and disorderly conduct. All the other charges where either dropped or dissmissed. I know this all looks bad but I was just a confused kid with a father who passed away when I was 9 and my mother was on drugs and had multiple abusive boyfriends while I was growing up. I am a grown man with a 9 year old son that means the world to me. I haven't been in trouble for a long time. I did send a letter explaining my case along with the court disposition papers. Has anyone else gone through this? Does anyone know how long it will take? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading.

I hope they give you a break. Sounds like you overcame a lot of obstacles related to how you grew up.

Hoping for the best for you. Let us know how it turns out. :)

Thank you! God knows I have. Still pending my review for licensure hopefully I will hear something soon.

I just wanted to drop a line for anyone that might be going through a similar situation. I did receive my nursing license earlier this week. It did however take nearly 4 months. Unfortunately the state takes a long while especially Illinois... At least from what I have been told....

Omg!!!!! I'm currently going through this and jus sent paperwork in last week. Mine was for driving on a suspended license, my shock is that it actually took that long? And do u think it was because of all your incidents

I am sure it did. On the other hand Illinois is really short and had many other things going on in that time frame. Good luck and I hope you receive yours sooner than later!
