First, find out whether your Visa status permits you to work on the USA. Then check with BON of your state to see whether your nursing program satisfies their requirements for licensure.

I believe that you have to file for an EAD and then get a SSN.

Thank you for the reply.

I am having the SSN already. In this case do I need to complete any certifications that are mandatory before apply for EAD.

You will most certainly have to pass the NCLEX to be able to get licensed. I would contact immigration and see what all you have to do.

Thank You for the help.

I will start my preparation with NCLEX and I will wait to follow the updated post for you.

You have to apply to the BON in the state you want to work in first.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

starting point is meeting state Board of Nursing website requirements for an International trained nurse and pass NCLEX. As long as you have EAD that gives you permission to work then you can start applying for jobs
