riverside anyone?

Is anyone here working for or worked for riverside methodist? Just curious to see another take on the hospital. Thinking of getting a job there soon. What do you think of riverside compared to other columbus hospitals such as OSU? Thanks in advance

I'm from Cincy.. so I can't compare the Columbus hospitals.. but I have a friend who works at Riverside, and loves it! Even more then she loves the hospitals in Cincy. I hope this helps

I work at RMH. I have never worked at or done any clinical time at OSU so I can't compare the two but I am very happy so far. I have only been there 2 months but I did a lot of my clinical time there as well. Can I answer any specific questions? So far the orientation process has been pretty strong with general hospital orientation followed by about 10 weeks of orientation on the floor and I also attend "internship" classes every week or so which are kind of review classes regarding various body systems, disease process, prioritization, etc.

dont work at riverside....its awful. OSU is magnet and has an awesome training program. They have the best reputation.

haha I am so confused. I have read things that have said that OSU is full of Union nurses and people had awful experiences there as well. one of my friends worked at OSU and said it was an awful work environment. She now works at Riverside and loves it. It seems to me that for every person that say a certain hospital is bad another will say it is awful . I guess I will have to see for myself?:uhoh21: this is a hard decision though

[color=sandybrown]what in particular has your friend mentioned that she liked about riverside? pay, conditions, ratio?

I plead the 5th/big smile.

For the record Riverside is a Magnet hospital too.

OSU nurses are in a union.

i lived in columbus for awhile and worked as an emt there... in my opinion.... riverside = better than OSU... OSU = teaching hospital; ie little nursing students follow you around and/or do your job. on the flipside.... lot of nice looking med students around :) just kidding!! It seems like the working environment at riverside is better... and i think the pay there is better too..

Personally, I dont mind NS, in fact I love them, or atleast have sympathy for them as I dont want to forget what it was like to be a student. :nono:

Personally, I hated riverside. However, I never worked there, I was a pt. there 3 times and all three times it was awful. The part that I was in was dirty and all the nurses but one were unfriendly. The MDs werent great either. As for the floor I guess I cant say much about that since I never made it there. As for OSU I was a pt. there a few times as well and I liked it. I also attended their new grad nurse conference where we toured all of OSU hosp. and talked to all the floor managers, etc. It was awesome, their new grad program almost made me want to move their tomm:) Beautiful hospital, friendly people...etc. I almost almost took a position there.

i'm glad you had a good experience at OSU!! :) I didn't mean anything negative towards nursing students...i was just informing.... trust me... i AM a nursing student right now; it seems like the majority of nurses dislike our presence :)

i worked at osu as a pct before we adopted out youngest (1995-2001) and i loved it. they offered a lot of training and valuable inservices. our benefits package was the bomb-diggity with pers. we did have a lot of students around, but most of the rn's were wonderful with them, and the pct's for that matter.

i was a patient at riverside and was not impressed in the least. but that's another post in itself. when i was a patient at osu, i was very impressed. then again, i could be biased.

best of luck to you in making your decision.
