If you keep reading some of these forums, you'll find situations similar to yours. It does help to know that some employers are like that so you can get your resume polished up.

Try to look at the bright side:

You'll find another job. I hope it's soon, and hopefully, you'll like it much better than the job you left. You can explore other opportunities now that weren't possible before. Now that you've had your surgery, you can find something that's more suited to you, rather than trying to fit yourself back into the old way of doing things.

Have you kept all the documentation from evaluations, nice letters from patients and family members? I would talk to an employment attorney, and get some advice.

Rhak-Welcome! You are definitely not alone. I have had to leave 2 jobs in the last 7 months because of back problems, and I thought it was the end of the worl. But I found a part time job and I start tomorrow and hopefully that will go well. I would look into collecting unemployment while you are looking for a job. It sound like you should qualify and you usually get the check pretty fast. PM me if you need anything!

I was able to get unemployment and have now gotten my 1st check. I thought they were going to fight it but thankfully they didn't.

I've been on a couple of job interviews, but, they act funny when I tell them that I had been on workmans comp.

My ortho MD is presently getting me set up to have an eval on my knee to see what the percentage of disability I have. I'm not quite sure what to expect and what they will do and what bearing this will have on my future job prospects. If any of you know about post ACL injuries and surgeries and disability percentages, I would appreciate any info.

Hi. I hope your recovery continues and you find a job soon. It sounds like a pretty underhanded way of letting someone go from their job. At least they didn't fight the unemployment. Insofar as ACL injuries, I'm not sure why you would have much permanent disability. In the last 22 months I've known 4 people who have had 7 ACL tears (one with MCL as well) between them. They were all sport related tears and all but one has gone back to their sports (soccer, track, etc.). The only one that didn't is the oldest and he is 50. He's had multiple knee surgeries from soccer injuries and has chosen not to play anymore. He still works a full time job that keeps him on his feet all day. Give it time, you should be fine.
