Remote Telephonic Nursing

Specializes in Critical Care Emergency Room.

As I approach semi retirement very interested in finding out more about remote telephonic nursing. Any companies you would recommend would be helpful.

Thanks!

I can't believe no one has answered you. Try the big insurance companies, like United Healthcare, Anthem, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. With your critical care experience, you should be an attractive candidate for a telephonic case manager or UM position. Good luck!

You are highly qualified for telecommuting positions. Research here and on the job boards.

Cosmicmama gave you good advice, the big insurance companies want you, but also look at regional HMO's.

Good luck!

I just joined this site so I don't know if you're still looking for a remote telephone nursing job, but I have been in the field for 19 years and have worked in five different telephone triage positions. My most recent and one of the very best I have ever seen is Night Nurse LLC out of Framingham, MA. I live near Tucson, AZ, and work with their pediatrics practices in multiple states. It's best if your state is part of the Compact program and your license is a multi-state license. It's fast paced, but very flexible and the managers are great. The company focus is on quality nursing care with safe and appropriate patient outcomes, not something I can say for some of the other organizations I have worked for. You can work as few as 16hr/wk on up to full-time. Good luck! Here's the website: https://www.nightnursetriage.com/

Can you work anywhere as a telephonic nurse or do you have to be home? I am looking for something where I can work if I am out of town visiting family.

It depends on your particular role and employer. Some are portable, others not. For mine, I can travel and they gave me a company laptop (rather than a desktop) for this reason. But I know people who have to get their home office and internet approved and their job is not portable.

Looking for a telephonic job myself. What is better to work for private like the LLC listed above or the insurance companies or HMO? What do I have a better chance at getting a job with? I have over 14 years of nursing experience and would love love to talk to someone about this.
