Rejection - Reason to worry???

Published

I'm never one to assume it's in the bag or "I'm sure to get a spot"... I submitted my package for El Centro (DCCCD) - Fall '08 last Wednesday (2/27).

Pleae excuse that my first contribution to the boards is for someone to say something to make me feel better...

My pre-req and support class GPA is 4.0 with no retakes, but I haven't satisfied my Speech or Microbiology requirements. I also have W's for two Speech class attempts, but had to drop because of full-time work and school requirements. Regardless of the reasons, I've got two W's on my DCCCD record :uhoh3: And then I just read a post where a prospect received a denial letter stating that their GPA wasn't high enough (3.77) when in fact he had a "4.0" after retaking classes...

What do ya'll think? (4/15 couldn't get here fast enough - Wish I could do the deep space travel hibernation thing...) Reason for all the worry??? I'll be 36 (Male) this May. :crying2:

Anyone read the research discussing how rejection affects the same brain centers stimulated by physical pain?

I have nothing of substance to add, but that is a great line. Sorry about the reject, you'll do it!

The anticipation and dread of awaiting your deeply desired future is very hard. Trust me I have been there! I have been applying for the last 4 semesters and each time around it is harder and harder to deal with.

I would try to not think about it (yes you are going to tell me that you can't, it's just in every second of every min of your daily thoughts)

It is something that can cause you to feel depressed and unworthy but the good news is that it too will pass and the days will go by (slowly) and you will confirm either with joy or sadness/anger.

Regardless those of us here have been there and we are here for support either way.

I am crossing my fingers for you!

I bet you'll get in just fine. I am waiting on two letters ... and at times I felt like "oh man, I've got this!" and then I always go back and doubt myself ...it's amazing how our minds play games with us when we are worried sick about getting accepted or rejected. It sounds like you will be fine, and I can tell by your worriness that you will be a great nurse some day because of how passionate you are about this now! Good luck, let us know what happens!

I had to wait 6 months before I got my acceptance. So I feel for you. Hang in there. You have a wonderful GPA, great work! Best of luck to you.

How old will you be if you don't get accepted?

I am 54yo. I remember when they would take women on welfare and put them into school for LVN here in TX. I got my RN 15 yrs ago. My suggestion is to apply to all schools in yr area (ie, LVN/RN diploma, AD, BSN) then you R not putting yr eggs in one basket. If the LVN school takes you go -then work a yr and take a mobility class to become an RN. The stress of getting into nrsg school is stressful - but it prepares you for the school itself which is no cakewalk. Good luck.
