RECENT TEAS ADVICE

Published

Yes Yes, before everyone jumps down my throat about searching for the topic in the search bar, I was hoping I could be directed/given advice from people who have recently taken the TEAS exam. I doubt that this will register any responses since this sight has been notorious for only responding to threads that are full of drama and/or only reading people the riot act for sharing their feelings (God forbid), so I am hoping for a Christmas miracle.

What would you like to know? I took the teas 6 about 3 weeks ago and will be taking it for the 2nd time on the 4th of Jan.

I haven't take it yet but the practice tests from ati, their teas 6 manual and the pocket prep app for teas is giving me some good direction for studying. They really show what areas I'm weakest in and what concepts I need to brush up on or focus on learning. I bought an ATI study package and it was worth every cent in my opinion.

I'm sorry to hear you have to take it again.

Do you have to calculate any scientific equations in the science portio?

Did you have to do any dosage calculations on the math portion?

How much of the life and physical science is there compared to the anatomy and physiology portion.

Good luck on taking your exam again.

Thank you! I hope I get a better score this time. To answer your questions, no I didn't have any scientific equations. I did have to have knowledge on how to balance equations. I didn't have dosage calculations. I did have many word problems that I needed to know how to set up properly. I had some geometry word problems. I needed to know the basic formulas like the area of a rectangle, circle, triangle, etc. For the science section, it was mostly a&p. The thing that got me was that it's graded differently. For example, there are 38 (I think) questions of a&p which are graded by themselves, then there are about 7 questions over life sciences which are graded, and a scientific reasoning section which is graded. So basically, if for example you get 4/7 correct for the scientific reasoning section and score a 58% in that section it will bring your science score down. All 3 science scores are averaged into one final science percentage. It's a strange grading system. Then of course your science, math, English, and reading scores are all averaged for your overall grade for the teas. I hope this made sence. It's hard to explain. The percentages for each section is explained in the ati study manual. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them for you. Good luck.

I have the ati study guide as we'll, and I have been using a TEAS prep app on my phone

Which app have you found the most helpful?

I have the TEAS genius on my phone and it has tons of practice questions and practice tests avaliable and its only 5$

Reading and writing are pretty straight forward I assume?

I am having a hard time finding a good place to get help with the math word problems, and the ATI guide does great explaining it, but I was wondering if you used anything that you felt helped you? Thank you again for your help. :)

The English section is what brought my overall score down to an 80%, which is why I'm choosing to retake it. The English by far was the hardest section in my opinion. The math section was the easiest and I scored a 93 in that section. The ati practice tests were most like the word problems on the actual exam. If you need additional help, I'd suggest looking up the youtube videos that are made for teas prep. I will find the math video and post the link for you below. It's about an 80 minute video, but they work out similar problems that are on the exam.

You are awesome! Thank you so much for all of your help!
