Quick question about delivery room

Hey,

I just have a quick question about your hospital's rules on how many or ages of the people in the delivery room. I am 15, and my mom is going to have a baby 8/05 and I want to be there are she wants me there(I can't wait). I was just wondering what are most hospitals rules on that? THANKS!

WANNA BE L&D NURSE,

It depends on the policies of the hospital your mom is using. I've seen patients with young children present for delivery. I don't think there will be a problem with you being there ...... just have your mom talk to her doctor and check the hospital policy. I've also been in deliveries with as many as 10 people in the room. That was in a large birthing room and a very interesting family.

Our policy is pretty open. I've had 6 adults (mom, grandma, aunt, etc.). I have also had the mom in labor include her children.

Ask your mom to talk to the doc and hospital.

Congratulations!

We are the opposite. We can only have a total of 2 people in the room. Anyone under 16 cannot be in the delivery unless they took a special class and have the doc sign a consent form. :o

I hope that you are able to be there and support your mom. As others have said, it really does vary by hospital. When she decides where she is going to deliver, she needs to call the hospital directly. Don't rely on the info provided by the doctor. Ours give out a lot of misinformation!!!

Congrats to you and your family.

Congrats to you and your family.

WE let anyone in as long as the mother wants them there and they are supportive of the patient. Have your mom check the hospital's policy. I can't see it being a problem. Go for it! You're going to witness a real miracle! I love having siblings at deliveries! :rotfl:

In our hospital, anyone the mom wants can be there, unless they have cold/flu symptoms. Check with the hospital for the rules as to who can be there. Most labor and delivery units are VERY liberal these days and likely you will be able to be there IF your mom wants you to. Good luck and congrats to you all!
