Jsut started new job as pediatric homehealth nurse. I work 10pm -6 am. Problem... Mom draws up meds before i get there and thinks its no problem for me to give them .. Problem..mom doesn't want her child touched unless its an emergency.. She wants me to only monitor child and read pulse ox and apnea monitor every 2 hours.. The home office has no other jobs at this time and all the other nurses have been doing what mom says.. What to do???

Boy DO i KNOW the FEELING.. The nursing home I worked for closed and before it did I got out of there. It was an endless stream of new LPN'S with the it's a job crap that sent me over the edge. What ever happened to kind, compasionate,and respect. The mistakes and med errors where so bad and my B/P went off the charts.. I had to give up that job for my health. Thank GOD the place shut down. My faith has been rattled and I 'am not going to give in the next time. Please to anyone that wants to or is a nurse because of the money "get out " we need people with big HEARTS not wallets!!

MY FIRST DAY OF HOSPITAL CLINICAL AND I WAS TO GIVE A SOAPSUDS ENEMA... WELL I BROUGHT IN A BEDSIDE COMMODE THE 36 YEAR OLD INSISTED ON MAKING IT TO THE BATHROOM... AND THE GREAT NURSE I WAS I WALKED BEHIND HER. WHEN SHE LET IT GO MY NICE WHITE SHOES WERE BROWN AND MY PANTS WERE NOT MUCH BETTER.. I HAD TO GET SCRUBS FROM O.B. AND IT TOOK ABOUT A HALF HOUR TO CLEAN MY SHOES THAT STILL SMELLED ALL DAY TILL I GOT HOME THREW THEM OUT WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW PAIR. LOL, MY INSTRUCTOR STATED, " NOW WE WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN, WILL WE".. LESSON LEARNED !! :balloons:

Hey Now !!! I Took The Pn Course And Failed The Second Half Of Med Surg. It Was One Of The Last Classes Before Graduation.. I Needed A 78 % And Got A 77.5 % I Failed!!! I Had To Wait 1 Year Before I Could Take The Med Surg Course Again And Pay 3 Grand For It !!! I Went Back The Next Year And It Made Me A Better Nurse... Have You Ever Heard Of Ati Testing... Look It Up... We Had To Take It On The Computer And They Gave Us Books... Thoses Books Are Why I Past Nclex.. I Had Been Out Of The Program For A Year Before I Went Back, Sure I Studied But Geezzzzz... Those Books Helped Me Out More Than Words Can Say !!! Lpn Debbie

I Had A Rn Give Me The Dirty Looks When Someone Asked For The Nurse In Charge And I Answered.. " That Would Be Me , How May I Help You ".. I'm A Lpn And Work In An Assisted Living Facility Where A Rn Can Work There But, Gets The Same Rate Of Pay As A Lpn Because You Don't Have To Have A Rn Supervisor , You Only Need A Lpn..she Was Just Coming On Shift And After The Person Left She Pulled Me Aside And Told Me I Wasn't The Nurse In Charge And That Anytime A Rn Is There That Is The Nurse In Charge !!! Our D.o.n. Happened To Be Around The Corner And Needless To Say The Rn Has Never Said That Again .. Yes, Yes, There Is A Difference, I Know This... But If We All Look At It Sometimes As " We Are All There For The Patients And Resisents" The Ego Trip Takes A Trip !!! The Sometimes Nurse In Charge, Debbie

ADVICE, DON'T DRIVE YOURSELF IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO.. I HAD TO TRAVEL ALMOST 3 HRS. TO TAKE THE EXAM.. MY BOYFRIEND DROVE AND WE TALKED ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT NURSING !!! EAT A GOOD MEAL AND DON'T WHAT IF, WHEN ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A POOR TEST TAKER AND HAD TO LEARN TO GO WITH MY FIRST CHOICE.. I TOOK THE TEST IN 40 MINUTES, 86 QUESTIONS.. AND PASSED.. SO, YOU CAN DO IT !! IF YOU PASSED THE PN COURSE YOU CAN PASS THIS... SO, GO AND GET THE " L" TO ADD TO YOUR " PN" !!!
