  1. @Joliver922 just remove the percentages! So like if you scored a 90% in all four sections, you would just do 90+90+90+90. Your UNF score would be 360 ?
  2. Hey guys, Currently in the APL program! I just went through this process so if anyone has any questions about the interview process or the program in general, feel free to ask! Like others mentioned before, the interview is very informal and definitely just a way for the program to understand your personality & your passion for nursing. Good luck!!!
  3. I got into the APL program! Can’t wait to meet everyone!
  4. @LoveBee Yay! Tampa is an awesome city - definitely go to Oxford Exchange lol I still haven’t gotten my email. I’m shaking in my seat!
  5. @Anatomyofnurisng I thought the workshop was very helpful! They tell you some great tips and relieve stress for the day. Plus they have a bunch of SNA members there that also help out during interview day so it’s nice to see familiar faces!
  6. @Anatomyofnurisng the interview process is very relaxed! It is so well organized and they really do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable for the day. You have plenty of time to meet your group & hang out with current students in the program. You can ask them all of the questions you want & at least for me, they were all very honest & helpful! You also get fitted for your polo during this time. After a bit, Dr. Dibble and Dr. Loriz talk to you and give you a pep talk. They really kept stressing that this interview was to see who you were, that you’re smart because you got invited so to focus on showing your personality! Then you’re guided to your interview room. It’s a group of 3-5 of you plus 3 interviewers - usually community nurses/faculty/recent graduates. You sit at a round table and get started on your interview. It’s 4 non-medical questions total + questions afterwards. My interviewers were amazing and the time you get to talk to your group beforehand is KEY. It really allows you to find the flow of the group so everyone is fairly represented in the interview. I remember during the workshop, they made sure to remind us that we were NOT competing against each other so not to treat it as such. It is much more like a group discussion than it is an interview. I hope that helped! ?
  7. @LoveBee that was for military service! You had to explicitly let the people there know and write Beth a separate note if you didn’t want to be considered for APL. You are all good ?
  8. @LoveBee YES. My interviewers were so great and kept mentioning how awesome we did. I’m trying not to think about it too much because I’m in the same boat!! Hoping for the best.
  9. Got waitlisted as well! Waiting to RSVP my spot in case I get in to the other school I applied to but I'm curious of how likely it is that I get off of it if anyone knows? Thank you! And congrats to anyone who got in!!!!
  10. I currently go to UF and know lots of people who applied to the program. Not a single one of them have gotten accepted to the Gainesville campus, only Jacksonville!
  11. For everyone who got in, do you mind telling me your basic stats? And if you had any medical experience?
  12. @skyler20 I received an email!
  13. Congrats to everyone who got in! I didn't get in but emailed Kenneth to see what I could do to improve in case I do not get into the other schools I applied to.
  14. I am planning on attending if the dates work out and I can! I go to UF and currently live in Gainesville so I just need to be plan my drive & everything. Do we have any idea of when it will be? Looks like it was later in February last year.
  15. Got an interview as well!! When Beth sent an email last week (or somewhere around there), she essentially said she should be done by 02/01 but to make sure we have the right emails in MyWings by 01/22. I'm assuming that meant as soon as she would be done going through the applications and ranking, she would go ahead and send the invitations out instead of waiting!
  16. Hi everyone! Long story short: I had an awful freshman year. Struggles with family, friends, and my own health got in front of my grades so I ended my fall and spring semesters with under 3.0 GPAs. I plan on explaining the situation to nursing schools when I apply but I am afraid that will not be good enough. I had taken a decent amount of my prerequisites during this time (Chemistry, Biology, & Statistics) and got not-so-great grades in them. However, they are not low enough for me to be able to retake. This really hurts my prerequisite GPA. I've been doing great after my freshman year (my GPA is now a 3.5 cumulative when it was a 2.9). Basically, what should I do? There are a couple options I'm thinking of: -Taking Statistics 2 and Chemistry for Liberal Arts, hoping nursing schools will see that I care and just went through a rough patch at the community college in my hometown. -Let things happen and focus on getting stellar scores on my TEAS exam (which I plan on doing regardless). I am applying to ABSN programs starting next fall so I have time to make a decision, I just don't want it to be too late. Thanks in advance :)
  17. I am taking Microbio this summer then they will all be completed!
  18. Hi! I am currently a rising junior at the University of Florida. Late in the game - I decided I wanted to be a nurse and therefore couldn't apply for Traditional BSN program. Now, I am set on a ABSN program. The issue is most of the programs start in the summer. I am scheduled to graduate in Summer 2018, meaning I have an academic year with no set plans. My question is: what do you think would look more impressive to ABSN programs? I could extend my graduation date and pick up a second major (my current one is Health Education & Behavior, I'd add on Family, Youth & Community Sciences). I could graduate in Summer 2018 and volunteer/work as a CNA in one of my local clinics to gain more experience - I am trying to pick up a Support Tech job but those are so competitive Sorry this was so long, thanks! :)
  19. Hi! A little info about myself. Currently an undergrad student at University of Florida. It wasn't until this summer that I set my heart on nursing (always wanted to be in medical field but wasn't sure where). Long story short, my freshman year was a mess. I wasn't prepared. I was diagnosed with GAD & spent many nights in the ER because of panic attacks. Other nights I would drive 2 hours back home due to feeling safe with my family in case an attack arose. Along with that and death close to home, my grades suffered. Luckily, I didn't take too many pre-requisites for nursing except for chem/bio & stats. I am afraid though that programs will look at my cumulative GPA and see it is not as high as it needs to be. Beyond that, I got a B- in both chem/bio and therefore can't retake them so that will be a 2.7 on my pre-req GPA. Now, I am doing much better with my grades (A's and 1 B) in harder classes. I am hoping programs will see that it was merely a rough time for me and that I really do have the passion to be a nurse. To better prepare & cushion myself though, what are some programs in Florida that are more forgiving on GPA/not as impossible to get into? Or does it truly matter when getting a job where you get your BSN from? Thank you so much! Sorry it was lengthy. :)
  20. My major (Health Education & Behavior) requires an internship my last semester. I'm not a nursing major so my internship could be in a hospital but it would revolve more around community health promotion, etc. I was wondering if for my free semester, as the accelerated program does not start until summer, should I work as a CNA at my local hospital or should I take a nursing "internship" (that's really volunteering but they call it an internship) abroad to India/Bali? I hope that clears things up!
  21. Hi! I am currently a student at the University of Florida planning on applying to the Accelerated Program here. I am also planning on applying to UNF & UCF. I am almost done with my pre-requisites for the program but still need to work on my majors criteria. Based on my tracking, I should be done with everything by Fall 2018. My major requires my last semester be an internship solely so I will technically not be taking any classes. Then I will have a free semester before the program starts. Do you think this will look unfavorable on my application? I don't think so but then again i'm not too sure! What would you suggest I do during the free semester? I am on my way to becoming a CNA so I could work in the hospital or should I take another internship abroad? Thanks again for the help!!!
