USAGPAN 2019
I personally would just direct commission by getting accepted into the program. I don't think having military experience makes much of a difference before applying for the program. Plus, I am not 100% sure on this, but I think if you are a NP and join the army as a NP, it may be a lot more difficult to attend the program. I could be completely wrong though.. but they may just try to keep you in the guard or reserves as a NP and not want to release you to let you go back to school and go active. I would just really focus on getting your ICU experience and applying to the program and not join the guard or reserves.

I could be wrong, but I believe that civilians and reservists still have the LTHET board. Our board is just at a different time (September). The board that we are getting our packets for to submit through our recruiter I believe is the LTHET board as well. I am so glad we are almost to September. I am hoping we all hear something soon! Considering the 1st is a Saturday and the 3rd is Labor Day, I am betting we won't hear anything before September 4th at the earliest.

I wonder if there are less slots overall or if there are less active duty applicants this year. SoldierMurse, were you an active duty applicant? Will you be attending in 2019?

I was told mine was completed a couple of months ago, but I haven't heard anything else after that.

I am a reservist. What about you?

USAGPAN 2019
I haven't heard how many applied. I wish I could know. I wonder if it's possible that we could hear before September 1.. I doubt it, but I can't help but hold out hope

I submitted mine back at the end of May

CCRN- CSC cert
I think you should be fine! I took mine and passed with around 1 year of experience in the CVICU. I only read Cardiac Surgery Essentials for Critical Care Nurses. It helped me a little, but I think if you have appropriate experience recovering hearts, you'll be fine.
- Student loans killing me!! stressed!
-
CCRN Study Guides
I used the Barron CCRN review book

Where are newer nurses still having difficulty finding a job?
i don't know about Denver, but after reading online, I expected to have a difficult time finding a job as a new nurse. However, I was pleasantly surprised that wasn't the case. I got my job on my unit choice immediately post graduation. I live in coastal Georgia

Is the online bls at American Heart Association hard to pass?
I personally did not find it hard to pass. I also took the HeartCode version of PALS and did the skills checkoff in person.

USAGPAN 2019
I have had the opportunity in the past to shadow an Army CRNA. Granted, I have never been active duty, but I have been in the National Guard for 5 years. I am not sure what motivates other people to apply, but for me personally, it is not about the "free" schooling and the pay while in school. While those are definitely benefits, I feel like much more must be taken into consideration before making such a serious commitment. I have no doubt that the program will be extremely challenging, and military life will be extraordinarily difficult. However, I am still dedicated to this path, and I am very hopeful that I will be accepted. MUS034, I think that it is great that you are taking these things into consideration, as it is not a decision to be made lightly. It is a serious commitment that goes well-beyond the commitment asked for a civilian CRNA. Best wishes to you, and I hope we all are accepted

The website is currently up as of today! I am still working on my packet.. There is so much to complete. I took my GRE last week, and I am working on studying to take CCRN. Good luck to everyone in completing your applications! I hope we all get in :)

Meyers Brigg, Have you done it?
I took the Myers Briggs a few years ago, and I am allegedly INTJ. I work in the CVICU

Orientation length for ICU
My orientation for CVICU was around 5 months or so. The first 2 months was classes and mostly a lot of learning. Later on, I was taking care of the patient and just consulting my preceptor with any questions, and she was essentially supervising.

New Grad interested in CCRN
I agree with beginning studying as soon as possible. There is nothing you can lose by gaining more information that can help your patients. You need 1750 hours of direct patient care, with you being the primary nurse assigned to the patient, before you are able to take the CCRN.

Nice to meet you! Best of luck to you. I hope we both get in! Have you been in touch with a medical recruiter yet? Does anyone have any idea if an Intro to Organic Chemistry class would be sufficient to meet the organic chem/biochem requirement? My nursing program required this class, which I think was considered "easier" than General Organic Chemistry, and I am wondering if I need to take a biochem class or something. I asked the recruiter I was in contact with and she told me to contact Northeastern, but it seems like Baylor is who will be doing the program for the 2019 class? However, they don't have a website up yet, so I can't exactly contact anyone.
