  1. I am not an RNFA, but I looked into this before. According to my research its is about $3. more per hour. The benefits of being an NP are more diverse and there are more opportunities. I like the OR but it limits opportunities, specializing in a career still in the OR, leads you to always having on call hours, boxes you in to working at a hospital or surgery center.
  2. londonflo, the MBON has provided a very vague description of the lack of acceptance of the program. They also do not accept Excelsior and several other programs which they used to accept. Due to the way the law is written the vagueness of their statement below. They are not required to provide details, as a student of Cascara I have tried to inquire several times. Students whom graduated from other schools have had similar problems. My biggest concern with this fairly new policy is the lack of nurses Maryland will be producing. Maryland like the rest of the country lacks enough nurses. There is an overall lack of nurses willing to work at the bedside, Maryland is no exception & has a great need. Due to several reasons including pay differences, & reduced number of Maryland schools offering prelicensure programs. I find it interesting they will allow several out of the country schools approval however some of the schools in the states are denied licensure. The overall country is going to be in trouble soon due to the lack of nurses & the ever aging baby boomer population whom will need care. Nursing education has become increasingly academic. There is a great need for overall nursing programs rooted back in the hospital or career centers. "substantially equivalent to the RN education programs approved in Maryland at the time of the applicant's graduation. See Health Occ. § 8-302 (b) & (c); COMAR 10.27.01.05 A & B."
