Finally!! After 17 years.....
Hello jbarber37. I couldn't do the program from South Dakota State because Georgia wouldn't approve it unless it was a Georgia refresher program. What state do you live in?

Finally!! After 17 years.....
Hello everyone! It's been six months and I FINALLY have a Georgia LPN license as of February 10, 2017. I had to go around the world to get it, but it was worth it. If anyone has to do an LPN refresher program, I have the information you will need. They were the only ones in Georgia that I could find and that Georgia board of nursing would approve. I've already applied for a job and praying it will come through. My dreams have come true and to anyone who is considering retaking their test, go for the gusto and do it because it can be done!!!!

Taking the Nclex for the 5th time 2016
Don't give up. I took it for the 4th time in 2004 and never thought about testing again. Well July 25, 2016 (twelve years later) I passed on the fifth time with 205 questions. I bought the Kaplan book and thousands of question apps. Praying also did it for me! Keep studying and praying and focus on the best answer to safe nursing.

Failed again 3x loser
You are not a loser. I took the test SEVERAL times, but I didn't give up all though I sure wanted to. Keep your head up. God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. You are ready for the battle and you will win! Just stick with one study source, (Kaplan, uworld, etc) and one plan only. Sometimes, people use so many different study sources, you can't figure out what works and what doesn't. The last time I tested was 2004 and never even thought about testing again, and in April of this year (2016), I decided to retest and July 25, I passed. You can do it. I did a lot of NCLEX questions and the free Kaplan seminars and focused and did what I needed to do. Hope this helps to keep you motivated and encouraged. Blessings to you!

Passed NCLEX July 2016
I too, passed my PN-NCLEX in July 2016 and I had 205 questions and around 30-35 SATA. I didn't know having all those SATA meant I was doing good! I just remembered I thought I had failed because I was getting all those type questions. I studied Kaplan and Saunders (a little bit) and mostly NCLEX style questions apps for my phone and iPad.

Were you able to study and pass NCLEX while working full time?
I always remind my husband I didn't marry for money therefore, I studied and worked FULL TIME because I couldn't afford a leave of absence!!! It is doable, but it takes discipline to buckle down and study. Even though I had failed after several attempts, I studied more this last time and was focused and didn't have the distractions that kept me from passing before. I passed July 2016 and I definitely had a different mind set this time. I studied Kaplan and did their free online seminars and that really helped. I took the LPN NCLEX. GOOD LUCK and don't give up.

Failed NCLEX
Kaplan worked for me. Also they have free online seminars. I failed several times and finally passed July 2016. You can do it. I took it the last time in 2004 and never dreamed of retaking it again. I bought the Kaplan study guide and downloaded three NCLEX apps with a lot of questions and did those all the time and studied and retook the test and passed. Good luck and don't give up.

Finally!! After 17 years.....
Just a quick update. GA BON says I have to do an LPN refresher course before I work as a nurse since I've been out of school longer than fours years. There are only one or two LPN refresher courses in Georgia so I contacted South Dakota State University to do the online version and they've been very helpful. It's a LONG process and Georgia is so strict but it's for the better. My clinical plan and course outline was presented to Georgia and they emailed me to say the refresher course was presented on old forms so I contacted he lady who has been helping me at SDSU and she resent everything again on the correct forms so now we're playing the waiting game. I know I am ready to work as a nurse and these little stumbling blocks are only there to make me be a better nurse. Even though I waited so long to retest, I still don't regret it. It wasn't my time all those years ago. Right now is the right time. Good luck to to anyone else who may be going through the same thing. I will keep you all posted as to when I start my refresher course.

Racist surgeon?
I have lived in the Deep South ALL my life and it is sad this type of behavior still exists in 2016. It's unacceptable that the surgeon is referring to any ethnic group as BUCKWHEAT, but whatever racial slurs he may choose to say, doesn't matter, it's what YOU answer to is what matters. Choose what battles to fight and which ones to ignore.

The Patient I Failed
Beautiful! Even though I haven't had the privilege of working as a nurse yet, I can't imagine how you felt. You did not fail her, her daughter and physician did. Bless your soul.
